Looking at a Downtown 300i
« on: April 21, 2017, 10:42:55 PM »
Hey guys i'm brand new to this scooter craziness, I bought a 2012 Agility 50, and fixed it up, and it's so fun to drive around and I love the trunk space.
I'm thinking about buying a brand new 300i, it's 5,400$, what do you think? Should I?

Tell me why you love your 300!

Solid, reliable, smooth, quiet, looks good, works good, lasts a long time. It is a mature product that is well refined. Get one before they discontinue it!

Exactly what Karl said. The DT is practically bullet proof. Size, speed, storage and space vs. gas millage when compared to other Maxi-s is hard to beat.

I can agree with all that's been said. I love my 2012 300i. Got it for $2000. w/3080 miles on it. Was a one owner. The old guy was asking $2500. but it had some scratches on the r/h side from being hauled on the back of a motor home. It also needed tires, mostly dri-rot originals. He took off 5 bills and I said let's deal. You will be happy with a DT. Best of luck. Let us know.

I have 53,000km on my 2011 DT. Other than changing fluids, filters and tyres etc, there have been no major faults or reliability issues.

Pros: A punchy little motor, smooth auto gearbox, decent weather protection, predictable handling, useful underseat storage, cheap to service, cheap to insure, cheap to tax, good fuel economy, comfy if you're not taller than 5'10, comfy pillion seat (according to the missus). Easily comfortable enough for a two tank of fuel day out.

Cons: i wish it was a 400cc. The power can be a bit on-off at slow speeds if you're used to a normal bike with a clutch. The high foot position is useless. It makes you feel like you're about to give birth. Fuel tank could be bigger.

I love everything about this baby, very comfortable!, smooth ride, strong, reliable etc etc.  I put almost 11000kms on this and it has not been a year yet that I have it.  No issues.

LOL omg yes that foot resting place is horrible!  I am only 5 feet 7 inches and yesterday thought I would put my feet up and it felt almost like I was squatting to have a pee.  Birth yeah or the Doc doing a frigging pap smear LOL!!

Yes, of course you should !

Negotiate best price with the seller, then go to your credit union, or lowest rate lender to see what the best they can offer you.
Do not sign any paper at the dealer until you talk to lenders.
Ask the dealer to include a brand new helmet of your choice.

If you are not aggressive enough to deal with salesmen, take someone who is.

Telephone all dealers near your area and ask for prices.
Find out who will offer you best deal over the phone.

Do not trade in your scooter unless it is in need of serious repair.
You can sell for more than trade-in value by advertising yourself.

Do it quickly, so you can get the most out of the summer months on a new machine !
