Starting issues and sparkplugs
« on: May 05, 2017, 03:21:16 PM »
OK having starting issues. Needs gas to start even when kicking. After pulling the sparkplug it looked good but warn out. Plug is an NGK BR8HSA. I can only find BR8HS in my area. Smaller electrode. I installed it and the scooter fires right up no problem Idles good. What plugs are people using the Super9 LC  ??

Clean spark plug always works better than a dirty one. Looks like your replacement is at least one heat range colder than original on the left. By the way, the ground electrode on the original indicates the plug WAY overdue for replacement.

The poor scooter was left in a shed for years before I picked it up. I noticed a stain on the water pump cover. Must be leaking weeping when hot. How much fun is that job. Any kit recommended ?  Price seems about $60-$70

hello gvh, you want ngk br8hsa sparkplug, ebay has them for $4 shipped, scrappydogscooters.  these 2t scooters use up sparkplugs, and need new plugs from time to time, I put in new plug at the 1st sign of any issues, like stalling at red light, hard to start, missfiring.

how many km's on your scooter?  is it low on coolant?, you probably need to change it out anyway.  if scooter has lots of km's or been awhile since run, probably needs full maintenance.  do a search, or read the old threads for Super 9 and you will get all the info you need to get your scooter running great.  cheers
1st and 2nd usually have an unfair advantage.  3rd is usually the best, can learn the most from.  paraphrased from Don Quixote, over 400 years ago, still true today

Here in Ohio most any chain autoparts  store can source any spark plug overnight if ordered before noon.
I get the weird NGk and Denso iridium spark plugs this way for 3 different scooters.
No need to wait for shipping. Cost has always been well under $10.

Local stores want $15-$25 for these plugs. Found it on ebay from a different province. 10 pack for $31 delivered. I picked up a 2004 ZX50 that uses the same plug.

Sorry, we must be talking a different spark plug, or a different continent.  Just got off the phone with O'Reilly auto parts. The NGK BR8HSA plug is $2.49 in Ohio...and can be over-nighted , no charge.

Toronto Ontario Canada.  It's not common plug so they have to order it in is the excuse.
