OK boys and Girls :D HELP
« on: May 17, 2017, 02:46:38 PM »
My cover that sits over top of the muffler is now wobbling.  I understand this  happens.  How does Kat firm it up? I assume I need something between the muffler and the cover.  But what?

there is a metal spacer with a fire proof washer  around it, if you had it apart it may have fallen off,

Okay Scooter girl. If the plastic cover is touching the muffler, you will have to scrape and chip it off, cause without the spacers the cover will be toast. Yelp, shore will. ~ Find them spacers.

OK I have all the metal spacers but one of them is missing a rubber to keep it from jumping around.

To be honest, the spacers, screws and t-collars Kymco that decided to use to mount of a decorative cover is absurd.

It could have been designed to a much simpler method.

You might try a local ACE or True Value hardware store...  they have an aisle full of assorted things  where you might find something close.
..  or would that be Canadian Tire ?

I ripped my cover off because it was loose and painted the muffler black.

Good morning,
All of the muffler people-shields move some on all scooters I've  seen.

You're  saying that your shield moves/flexes more than it used to?
Tightening the fasteners didn't work, or they loosened and fell off?
Whatever you use from a hardware store for fasteners and spacers must include fire proof, heat proof item touching the muffler skin.
Kymco sells replacement bits for this.
Not cheap....but will encourage periodic checks of these fasteners the next time around.

Whatever you use from a fardware store for fasteners and spacers

You have fardware shops in the States?

Wow.

It'll be years before we get fardware stores in the UK  :(

I have all the fasteners but I think I need just one rubber to stop it from vibrating.  They are all snug except for the one that seems to be missing a rubber washer.  Yes it is Canadian tire we have here in Canada. :)

Oh come on, Scooter Girl, surely you jest.---Just in case you are serious, an O ring is a round rubber ring, primarily used for sealing joints. They come in various sizes and thicknesses. If you could find one with the thickness and ID (inside diameter) as the other rubber washers it should suffice. Trying to be helpful here.
