New tires
« on: June 12, 2017, 02:14:15 AM »
Well my used 2014 700i I noticed the side wall on my rear was patched on the sidewall and is leaking. Also front right is worn really bad. Thinking all new tires I guess which sucks as the other two are fine.

They are maxxis and I can't find the same ones so I can't just replace the two so looks like I'll just replace them all.

Any suggestions? I don't want to pay too much.

I found good prices on SunF tires both on e-bay & amazon, they have several different tire patterns, I got this set of street tread for $255 shipped,  every other street tread tire was at least 75% more

Yeah thanks, I just went with the same brand SunF and got the All Terrain for 245 out the door.  Bought a tire changer from harbor freight so looking to do it myself.  Haven't done it yet but I feel confident lol.

Good looking tread pattern on those offroad tires, are they 6ply?  What about the weight of the tires? The big horn impressed me as they were the lightest weight 6 ply tire out there. But if only a couple pounds than that wouldn't mean much.

my  new tires are much quieter and smoother on the road, they also handle the corners much better on pavement

Looks good!  I just got mine done yesterday, much better.  Sucks one of the rubber covers for the axle nut is missing.  Probably damn near impossible to find one.

I still have the rubber covers, but the centers of the Yamaha wheels are smaller diameter and do not fit on the wheels that are currently on my 450i

So already have pickers stuck in my tire... slow leak in another... seriously so easy and they get punctured. 6 ply I need like 20... what tire pressure does everyone use?

Should be easy to order one thru any dealer, check the Kymco website for a parts listing and give that number to the dealer for ordering. I have done that with no issue, and they also tell you what the part sells for so the dealer can't rip you off.  Now for the tires....punctured by a thorn?  Do you have really big thorns?  Is the 6 ply on the tread only?  What about the side wall?  Where was your puncture?  Sorry for so many questions but will be looking at tires for mine soon.

Yeah pretty decent size thorns. And they are 6 ply, punctured in both tread and tire itself. Nothing in the sidewall I could see.  Ice tires but that seems a bit crazy to have thorns give me a flat but as others tell me that's common I guess it might be and I shouldn't be going far off the path like that

But just wondering what pressure everyone runs?  Manual says 10 front and 14 back.  I usually go by manual as I read when I owned motorcycles that you should go by manual not by tire.  Seems strange as you might change tire and size so things would differ?  For these ATV wheels I wonder if 10 and 14 and too much... maybe do a 10 - 12 or something?

Who did you get the tires from?
