Left Coast riders need to step up...
« on: June 15, 2017, 01:12:45 PM »
...to the plate, and post some sun-set pix with their scooters. (for Pete's sake - you've got the PCH - I'm shooting corn, rabbits and a dirt levy)

I'm working it coming up over the midwest...maybe we can get AMAC to shoot the Correct-Coast?

If we could get that sun a'moving across the nation's sky on a scooter....!

We could make greeting cards or something. T-Shirts. Key fobs.....other useless stuff. Place mats !!

That's not looking too friendly back there. Heading home soon.

Are those "hills" Stig? Last time I was in Ohio (circa 1960) there weren't any hills.

Aahhh...

The gauntlet has been thrown down.

OK.
That WX man character has posted incremental increase of 3 degrees F for the following three days and our surroundings are browning out, as they do this time of year.
Not yet triple digits but they just announced that shall be next week. Humidity less than 20%.
The spotter aircraft have already been out a couple times this year working fires.

Unfortunately, when Fire Season gets into full swing there will most likely be some really impressive sunsets to photograph.

We've got the weed abatement done around our perimeter, but the city has not done their part on the adjacent parcels, as usual.
The Fire Department inspector passed through the neighborhood last week, so we're hoping the contract work crews will do the abatement work soon.

I've read, ( on the web, of course ! ), that when Krakatoa exploded, there were magnificent sunsets globally, for years...
My crystal ball is no better than any other bowling ball so I have little clue of future events, yet I will do what I can to bring a few pics of El Sol falling into the Pacific to the forum.

Stig, I surprised myself how quickly I was able to retrieve a sunset photo from the left coast.

I had gone for a ride on my quart and a half MC and parked on the pier... it's within a few degrees longitude of as far as you can stand upon the left coast.
The fellow crouching is a Swiss tourist photographing his way across the states.
I thought I would take a qwik pic of him, and did send it to his blog site so he could show his friends a pic of himself at work.

I realize it may not quite meet the criteria, but I'll try to get one similar with my People 250 this summer, depending on how things shake out. Unfortunately, they might be turbulent for a while.  :-(

Karl,
Ever since Bob Evans started selling their mashed potatoes in the frozen foods section things have gotten lumpy around here.  (daughter says that's crazy thinking. ..but I see a connection )
Ohio does wrinkle up some, down near the bottom - like cheap sox.
Also, folks claim we're in a river valley of some sort. I think it's the taters.

I have heard of this "sun" of which you speak.  Here it is a mythical object like the blue clouds that appear with it, & bigfoot.  Legend says that it is very bright.

I'm not a left coaster but I take sunset pics all the time.  Here's a recent one with my new Smax.

I did not have my scooter when I took these pictures here in Vegas. However, these two pictures are great Sunset ones.

I was doing postmates in my car when I took these two. This was around January. Enjoy both of them.

That's really nice King !

..dust storm on the desert ?

I hopped on the scooter to cool off, and of course take a sunset pic earlier...

It was a mistake !
I was simply misguided !  lol
Riding into the sun was Not fun !  No clue where I put the visor for my helmet...  :-(
Then I turned around after spending half an hour with a pair of young ladies at a swimming hole where it was 20F cooler.  :-)
It was in a canyon, so I headed off for a back road and had the sun in my eyes again.

This was Not a good thing...  as I lost sight of the roadway, glanced to the side of the road, and noticed a deer jump and pace me for a bit, not more than 6ft off the edge of the asphalt !
That shut me right down !  They got quite a lot of spring in their gait and I was lucky it had not bounced off me !

This Sunset Hunting for Stig can be a hazardous pursuit !

Really nice photos Klaviator. The most beautiful sunset I ever witnessed was in San Deston,Fl. When that big orange ball touched the Gulf waters, I actually expected to hear a sheeeeeeeee. Anyone ever wonder why the sun, or moon looks so much larger on the horizon than when it is straight overhead?? In reality the sun and moon are closer to you when overhead? Professor Einstein gave us the answer to that question, many, many years ago , in one of his famous  equations concerning the workings of the universe. Very interesting.

Mac, my Yellow Rocket doesn't carry enough fuel to get out that far so I had not given Einstein computation much thought.

Since you have asked, I might suspect the difference in actual distance pertains to properties of a right triangle.
Perceived size most likely is influenced by light waves travelling through the atmosphere for that further distance at a lower angle presenting a larger amount of diffraction providing magnification.

I must also admit very little time spent contemplating the sound of one hand clapping.
