Was this issue ever resolved?  My 2014 Like 200i has been showing the same code 16.  Thanks.
With enough time, you'll get there.

How is your scooter running?
If your scooter is running perfectly.....starts nearly instantly, idles nice, accelerates with no stumbles, reaches your normal top speed......then honestly I would not give it more concern.
I've seen this 16 code on other LIKE200i's and it has yet to indicate a real-life problem.
No clear idea why it develops -- but if your scoot starts & runs well....just start it and go.
After a few rides, you'll learn to ignore the blinks.

Stig,

Thank you for your kind and prompt response.  My like 200i seems to be running well in terms of the factors which you described.  I do wonder whether it's running a bit rich, since I observe sooty deposits on the muffler below the tip of the exhaust.  Also, my fuel economy hovers in the low 60s mpg.  These two elements cause me to wonder in turn whether the cylinder head temperature sensor might be intermittently working, (as the engine light  [CELP?] illuminates intermittently), and the fuel injection system defaults to fixed settings to insure continued operation.

I would be content to ignore the engine light except for two considerations: First, I would not want for the light being on consistently to mask any other engine problems or warnings which might arise.  Second, should I decide to sell the 200i, I would feel awkward telling the buyer that there's nothing to worry about.  I believe that it would actually discourage prospective buyers.  I would hesitate in their place.

I plan to closely inspect the sensor for solid connections when I perform the next valve adjustment.  If said connections appear to be in good order, I will purchase a replacement sensor.  Since Kymco Parts Monster is now Motosport Monster and no longer offers Kymco OEM parts, would you have a suggestion for where I should look?

Many thanks.
With enough time, you'll get there.

Check engine light coming on while scooter is running....yeah, not to be ignored. Red blinks as scooter starts and runs perfectly  is something different.
With the LIKE200I starting instantly and running perfectly, and getting high 70'smpg, with nothing unusual at the tail pipe....I no longer pay much attention to a 16 code after 6 years.
A warning light while running would be an immediate concern.

I am having the same problem. I picked up a '13 like 200. It started but ran rough. Rode it home while it surged and sputtered. The man i bought it from said he rode it very infrequently. It only has 350 miles on it. I drained the gas and put fresh 91 non ethanol gas. Now it wont start. It will burp every 20th or so try. The last owner had cut the silencer off and put on a truck glasspack muffler for some reason. I removed that and at the guidance of a local shop the suggested finding a similar replacement. When i try to start it now with a straight pipe, the engine just cranks and spits gas out of the pipe. Engine light blinks six times. Should I go ahead finding a muffler or replace that sensor mentioned above? Any advice would be appreciated

OK, let's trouble-shoot a No Start Engine...

KILL Switch is ON - turn it off - the RED switch
When pulling the brake lever - does the brake light come on when key is on? NO? Stop right there and report back.
Check the fuses in the battery box (3 screws, under the floor)
Check the battery post connections are clean and tight

listen for fuel pump sound from inside the gas tank when you turn key on

spark plug cap loose or off (remove battery cover, then remove (2 side screws ) lower/center front panel. spark plug is behind there)
At only 350 miles - nothing is worn out - hopefully previous owner hasn't been fooling with the engine.
Let us know what you find.

Battery, terminals, fuses, and lights are all good. I can hear the fuel pump whine when i turn the ignition. Because of the straight pipe i get gas shooting out so i know for sure its pumping. Checked plug on saturday and had good spark but ill get another one incase its getting fouled. A scooter mechanic i talked to said that because of the straight exhaust, its not getting enough back pressure. Does that make sense? Ive never had an EFI bike/scooter. I got a mower muffler at the hardware store and will mount that tonight along with the new plug and respond findings tomorrow

Yeah, you're kinda breaking new ground here - have not heard from owners cutting off the LIKE's muffler. No idea what that might cause. It has to be giving the ECU fits.
Had a brand new (carbed) CB350 Honda years ago - we broke the exhaust off during a 24 hour enduro - it kept running fine. Just made it easy to spot when coming in for a night rider change - the blue flame shooting out was pretty cool coming across the Texas desert.

This figures to be interesting. You should have a good scooter when you get it sussed.

Changed plug and nothing changed. Still just cranking. The first plug was sparking but it was white. Gonna have to find a different muffler, anyone have a spare 1” ID silencer laying around. Ive got an old supertrapp but its a tad too big. I wouldnt mind the flames. My TT500 shoots fire and doesnt bother me, i just want it to run. A whole new exhaust is about 300 and im just trying to flip this thing.
