Why no highway patrol in FLA ?
« on: July 01, 2017, 11:47:24 AM »
For 10 or 12 yrs I've driven 275 in Florida.....Cannot ever recall seeing a Highway Patrol officer. Not once.
Hence, I-275 is like a 6 lane road in a third world country......
Please tell me that none of you guys ride I-275 on a scooter!?

We have a large % of speeders on the Ohio portion of I-75. ....but Florida is stupid with them. Why no FHP ?

What? That's strange. I remember when my brothers used to warn us of being stopped near the north end in Tampa near the beginning of I 275. But to be honest, I can't remember if it was the local law enforcement or the FHP that was so aggressive. Lately when I go to Tampa, I find the traffic on 275 too heavy to even go the speed limit on weekdays.  Nights and weekends are another thing, I guess.

I think the FHP tends to avoid 275 in favor of I 75 in that area because it's safer for them to park beside the road when they write those tickets. Lol.

They are all up here in North Florida on the I 10 corridor concentrated between Madison (east of Tallahassee) and Gadsden (just west of Tallahassee) Counties. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

That's a deadly chunk of interstate.

You wanna see law enforcement patrolling the roadways in Florida? Go to Bike Week in Daytona. Seems like there is one behind every bike. Got stopped there one time for pipes to close to the ground?? Duh

Lol. We call bike week call amateur hour. Locals tend to go to biketoberfest but that's also becoming a Yankee fest. Cops have a field day. Rest of the year I can register and drive just about anything with a motor and never get hassled.

Please to all that trailer, yuck, your bike to bike week keep coming and keep leaving you $$$.

Why would anyone want to ride on an interstate in Florida.  Too many nice state and US highways that are WAY safer and WAY more fun.

Sadly, In the Tampa-St Pete area of Florida, many of the US highways are just as or even more congested and dangerous as the interstate.

No argument there, please stay away.....
That said if you must go to bike week I think one should ride.

Safer highways elsewhere. Hmmmm maybe out west. Maybe.

Want safer buy an SUV.

AMAC, there are SOOOO many wannabe riders that trailer to events. I think it misses the whole point of having a two-wheeled machine. "Amateur hour!" That's great!

Back in the day I'd ride from NJ to bike week no matter how cold.
Hell Stig rides 12 months a year up in Ohio. Kudos!

Now, I'm not nuts. See the clear spots on the road here. That's what you ride on. One doesn't go scootering in the snow (without City Grips!)

The real nutballs are these guys that go out there and sit on 5gal plastic buckets and talk about how bad the Reds & Bengals are all day.

275 is usually so backed up, it's impossible to speed.
