Derestricting my Super 8 150......
« on: July 02, 2010, 11:36:20 PM »
Is it worth it?  I know that it will help w/ gas mileage, although I do get about 70mpg.  I'm not looking for more speed, obviously, but am looking for overall better performance....doing the modifications to get her to be what she was meant to be!  Sling?  I know you have something for me....you always do, oh Jedi Master of Kymco!   ;D

...dang...

 ;D

..well, the 150 isn't "restricted"..per say..

..only the 50cc scoots are actually restricted, due to the speed and insurance laws and such...

..however, if you would like quicker take-off and acceleration through mid-range, you can go .5 gram lighter on your variator rollers without really affecting top speed..

..might even gain a lil there too, if your engine wasn't turning highest rpms at your normal cruising speed...

..if you want to open it up a lil more, then replace your stock airbox with a free-flow filter, such as a K&N..

..however, if you do that mod you will need to increase the size of your carburetor's main jet, to keep your fuel mixture from becoming lean, due to the increased air intake..

..the filter will also give your scoot a louder, more "throaty" sound...

..ummm...

..may the Force be with you, brother...

Thanks slingwalker....and thanks to you too zombie...I wasn't sure if there we're any real "heavy" restrictions on the super 8's, but firgured I'd ask...so, now that I know I can get a racing cdi, I wonder if there's a cable I could snip-snip, or if there a cable inside I could blow through....it's strange, w/ "babe", I could find anything I needed in a second, but now w/ my new girl (yet to be named...looking for ideas!) It's super hard to find anything!  The search continues......happy 4th to my fellow Americans!
