Ironbutt's 9 and 10
« on: July 29, 2017, 08:32:04 AM »
Good Morning All.

Last weekend I completed two more ( and my final ) Ironbutt Rides on a standard Downtown 300i

Ride one was from Calais in Northern France to Valencia in Southern Spain, riding a total of 1070 miles in a time of 21,00 hours exactly.

Ride two was the reverse but totalled a mileage of 1092 miles in 21 hours and 58 minutes.

The Downtown performed brilliantly but I suffered a little as it threw it down with rain for most of the way home.

I couldn't have picked a better bike to do it on.

Right, what's next ?

Congrats on your IronButt ride !
What an accomplishment !!

I do know...  Many years ago I was a factory rider for a major builder road testing models prior to their release to the public.
Our duty was to put 300 miles on the odo in an 8 hour shift,
With a 1/2 hour lunch break, and two 10 minute pit stops per shift, it was a difficult task.

We were asked to do a representative mix of city and highway riding, legally, obeying all speed limits.
It was not possible to do so.

I have never participated in an endurance run, nor would I want to.
I very much enjoy the ability to quickly stop to investigate interesting things along the way.
lol   I hate trains !  Too many missed opportunities !
Best

Have buddies on a GW forum who are hard core iron butt riders. I have a hard time driving 4 wheels, 1000 miles in 24 hours. (more like 500). Far too dangerous to me and just not my idea of fun to push myself that hard on 2 wheels. Different strokes for different folks. Not knocking you man, awesome achievement on a scooter though.

Thank you for your support guys. I really appreciate it.

If anyone has any contacts at Kymco in the US or Canada I'd like to approach them about a Coast to Coast in 2018.

Thanks again.

Please keep us posted.  I did an Iron Butt a couple of years ago an a BMW, and it's a challenge.  Don't know if the Agility 125 is up to the task.

Mine is a marshmallow butt as 500 is tops for me and that's not fun. The SW is up to the task but at 67 I prefer to let you younger whipper snappers claim the glory and I'll cheer you on.
