Piaggio came today....
« on: August 01, 2017, 10:47:29 PM »
The Liberty S seems like a solid little scooter. Big wheels and light weight make it very easy to roll around.
Got it covered by Progressive - and it's road ready for 600 miles of running in.
Starting with tomorrow's before-sunrise coffee run - I know the front lighting can't equal the Burgman's twin running lights. Those were amazing.

I like the details on this scooter....red stitching on the seat, chrome bits all around, nice paint and well fitted panels, LED running lights, immobilizer, ABS front, nice dash.

I like the Piaggio 'neck tie' up front.

One option I ordered today from ScootWest is this Piaggio fly screen. Never had a screen on the LIKE - even on the coldest Ohio winter days I did not want one. But I liked the look of this one as seen on Robot's 20 min youtuve review of the Liberty. Might install a side stand - but don't half trust those things on a scoot with no parking brake. They also sell a rubber floor mat....but don't know about that accessory. I want my feet to slide quickly off the floor when stopping - so plastic floor is good for me.

More on it's road manners later.....

Stig, that's a nice looking scooter. Love the lights and dash. Hope you enjoy it. Safe travels.

Looks good Stig.  Don't think we have that model here but I have been looking at the Medley which does look very similar and I will have to find out what the differences are.  Do you know what the service intervals are yet and where this modal was made as I believe Piaggio get a few made in Spain.

Believe it's assembled by my old shootin' buddies in Vietnam!
Will do a vin search to see.
I purchased a 248 page pdf service manual yesterday (for $8)....service intervals are getting stretched by manufacturers in order to look better to us - but I pay little attention to them. I do over-kill on everything that needs routine servicing (oils, brake fluid, filters, etc.) They have an Asian version and a European version - still sorting which one I have - may have to go measure the wheelbase ( they are different!)
They want to see me in 600 miles for a $200 servicing. Doubt seriously that will include the valves - but if it does i might just give it to them --- one last time -- before they never see me again!

Valves: 600 miles, then every 10,000K
Engine oil & filter: the same (no way I'm waiting that long!)
Hub oil & brake fluid- look at it every 5000K
Belt: 10,000K replace
Spark plug: 20,000K
Rollesr: 20,000 replace

Still looking for fuel req. ---- assume it will be regular gas w/10% corn

Manual looks like a phone book...in 4 languages.

Lovin' so far!

That is going to be such a sweet ride if it rides as good as it looks. Congrats on the new scooter!

You doing a top case Tom? Thinking about upgrading in size on my BW. I love storage as I usually have a small back pack with personal stuff like water, eye glasses, sometimes a snack, small notebook and pens, sometimes a small tablet computer. Anyway, can't wait to hear your ride report.

You did well, my man. Really an eye catcher. I love the little chrome pieces . As a former Harley rider, you know I love chrome. You know what they say, "Chrome won't get you home, but it sure looks nice while you're waiting for the tow." Don't think you'll be waiting for a tow anytime soon. I also love those wheels. You've got class and you are riding in style.

It is quite nice, I was just looking at a red S model today at another dealer and they also had a blue standard model but the select black and chrome treatments really make a big difference.

I am curious what the stock tires are, and how they perform.
and, if you will replace them, and with what ?  :-)

I thought it came with Michelin City Grips.

I thought it came with Michelin City Grips.
Every new "Vespa" I've seen have been shod with City Grips....even the $10000 946, or 964, 777, etc.? is wearing City Grips.
These $3000 Piaggios come shod with Maxxi'es...made I think in sunny Uzbekistan .....which is up by Cleveland if I'm not mistaken.
In any even, since I'm no longer commuting daily to work in all weathers .....these Uzbeckies should be adequate...at my speeds.
The one thing I  AM going to do is install a nice new NGK Iridium plug.

And have measured the battery...and the dang batt. box is so small I can't find an improvement  on the puny 6 A stock battery! @#$%^*
Might have to do a battery box mod.

I like little EFI Scooters with Iridium plugs and powerful batteries.....when I want a start miles from home at 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hey Stig,  how does the headlight on the new scooter compare to the Like200, hopefully brighter.
