Scooter won't electric start
« on: September 11, 2017, 09:38:43 PM »
My 2007 Kymco Agility had been electric starting fine.

I came out yesterday morning to start it and nothing happens. It didn't even turn the engine at all. I connected a battery charger and it indicates it that the battery has full charge.

I can kick start the engine and get it to run. However, the electric components behave strangely while running. The horn is weak or doesn't sound at all, the turn signals don't blink, they just stay on and make a sort of crackling sound.

Also, when I turn the key to run by the moped isn't started, the gas gauge usually indicates the level but now I can't get any electrical components to work while the moped isn't started.

What could be causing this? Where should I start my troubleshooting?

How old is the battery? A full charge (volts) is not always a good indicator of a good battery. It takes amps to crank a scooter. I would start with a new battery if it has any age on it.

Check and clean the connections to the battery.  Sounds like something as simple as a loose connection.
