Andy
Have City Grips on my Agility City 125, they have 20500km and are down to the wear marks. Good tires.
I liked them so much that I ordered a new pair a few days ago.
Haven't tried the Avons.

Just like everybody else...City Grips.

On my former S200 I took 'em through the dragon, I rode them through a flash flood, & up a "mountain" on a winding road with the rain so heavy I couldn't see 5' ahead of me.

They work great in the dry too, & wear pretty good.  Have 'em on my HD200 too.

Thanks Andy

From somebody who has put a few miles on Avon Vyper Strykes, there's a lot of better tyres out there for the money and they'd be right at the bottom of my list to fit.

Keeping in mind I don't know if any of these are available in your size;

~ I've used Michelin Street Pilots a lot and have been happy with the performance
~ Any tyres I've had from Metzeler have been perfectly acceptable
~ When I was a courier I was using Heidenau K66s for winter work (all-weather, but very fast wearing) and Michelin Street Pilots for summer work.
~ Early on in my bike riding life I used Duros a lot - hard wearing and nice chunky tread (HF903?) for scooters. I can't really remember much about them, but I'm going to go back to them fairly soon I think to try again.
~ Anything by IRC - wouldn't touch again with a barge pole
~ Anything by Maxxis? See Michelin Street Pilot, I liked these a lot too
~ Conti-go (Twists?) seemed nice and sticky but I didn't have them very long, which I regret now.

Anyway, hope this is of use to somebody and not just a rant... I've tried to keep it scooter-specific.

Just as almost everyone else has said, City Grips. I run those on my PCX, and have never had a problem.
Two things to consider...
1) The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse always gets the cheese.
2) Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet engines.

I don't know - those Avons have a pretty cool name, although I ride on City Grips.

The Avon Viper Stryke I put on the back of the DT wore out faster than the Maxxis.

Mine wore out extremely fast too. It was a gonner in about 3500 miles if I remember rightly.

Had ~6k on my City Grips & still going strong, even the rear.   Same deal on my HD200, ~6k miles on the CG's & going strong.
Best tire for the class in my opinion.  I've bought three sets of 'em for three bikes, & have no regrets.

Mine wore out extremely fast too. It was a gonner in about 3500 miles if I remember rightly.
