Nice find Magordon, there has been discussion on here before about the stock Keihin jets, it seems that there are so many no one knows which one to order and the dealers seemed to be unsure as well. For the record, I reckon the 1001-806 is the correct one for the stock ZX50. Once again, nice find, and welcome to the forum.

also i checked my spark plug agaist that website that art posted for reading plugs. and mine turns out perfect chocolate brown described as "the best" on that page. so tuning does not seem to be an issue. my guess is there isnt a good balance between intake and exhaust that henders my acceleration. so my next step should be k&n style filter and up on jet size. the 48mm filter will fit on the stock carb i believe. sound right guys? here is the filter i am looking at http://www.scooterpartsplace.com/High-Performance-K-N-Style-Scooter-Air-Filter.aspx

You can open it up,but i think the jump in size may be a bit too much for the stocker you start to take the cone out of the jet,may still work fine,It's good to have a hand full of plugs when doing this, once they get toasty it's hard to tell some times whats going on,plus these t2's eat plugs from time to time so its good to have a few spares at least three. If you plan to open your jets get the torch tip cleaner set at a welding supply house.something like this is your best bet if you go this rout.It is cheaper in the long run if planning more mods. Those jets are a little pricey at the site( but nice to have when no one else caries them)Around $4.00 most places.

G'day Magordon, I have 3 of those type filters, from 3 different suppliers, they seem to work ok but one thing I found with all of them is that the chrome end cap is not sealed properly, like they were stingy with the glue. If you buy one, check it and if you see light through the join make sure you seal it before you use it. With mine I paid $10 for one from hong kong, $20 for one from my local bike shop, (yep, we have one of those) and the other one came with the carb and inlet kit I bought from an ebay seller. As far s I can see, they are all made from the same factory, different seller, different price. If you want to pay a bit more you could buy the genuine K&N filter, will be top quality, but I don't know how much more.

I believe the K&N filters are reusable, as in clean and reuse. They do cost, more but I have never heard anything negative about them.
Except the price. :)

Those cheaper filters I got have a removable mount rubber. Tha one I bought locally was for a 54mm carb, I just put on my 48mm mount rubber and is all good.
