Running Lights?

My motorcycle and Helix have running lights that illuminate the front turn signals.  Our People 150 does not have these.  Should the front turn signals be illuminated or is my bike faulty??

Seems like the dummy "rest of the world" turn signals would be great candidates for running lights.  I haven't looked closely at mine (only brought it home last night), but running a lead from one of the always on sources in the headlight nacelle to the naked bulb holders wouldn't be all that difficult.  But, maybe I'm missing something.

..the signal enclosures aren't vented very well, and will retain heat..

..LED lamps would probably work tho...

..less amp draw, overall..

..but if you want to still have your signals blinking when you want them to, you will need to install a relay, i do believe...

..the "position" and signal lamps are on two different circuits...

I had installed LEDs in the dummy lights on my people but the ones I had were cheap and burnt out.   I've now replaced them with tiny strobe lights. I dig it but I'm not sure about the legality of having them. Guess I'll find out the hard way.

Position lights are legal as long as they are white or amber.

I think you could tap the headlight circuit for the position lights. They are on with ignition, which is what you want.

Kymcoaccessories.com has a kit that turns turn signals into running lights and also lights up the "dummy" turnsignal. Yes, they do sell LEDs replacement bulbs.

Can someone tell me exactly how to turn the dead turn signals into running lights?

Any help would be much appreciated.

 On my 2010, I took off the lenses. Carefully drilled out the back of the housing, bought and installed two universal light housing from advance auto parts. The ground wires I combined and grounded right at the horn mounting. The hot wires I combined and attached to a hot wire on the headlight. I installed amber led bulbs to keep the current draw down. The hardest part is getting the body panels off. Just go slowly and take your time. Don't force anything. There are several tabs involved in addition to the obvious screws.  Good Luck!

Just be careful adding extra lights.  Keep extra wattage to a minimum, LED's are a good choice. The battery is small and the alternator has marginal output.  Headlights dim significantly at idle, so there's not a lot of juice to spare.
