Piaggio 1,000 mile ride report
« on: October 21, 2017, 09:11:36 PM »
Today, on the 82nd day of ownership, I reached 1,000 miles on my 2018 Liberty 150.
Probably 800+ miles were ridden in the dark**. Top speed attempted to date @42mph - w/throttle variations per break-in procedures.
Some day I will look for scooter's top-speed, maybe. I have no use for such on my roads....have seen enough tractors pull onto the road over hills - cars passing blindly, etc. Really, I'm in no hurry.

I think it is a small, light scooter - but I have more room on the long, comfortable seat than on the LIKE. Headlight** for my dark riding is much better than my Kymco; big wheels vs the 12" LIKE wheels give feeling of more stability - I find myself riding 5>10 mph faster when cruising county roads. Power from the 155cc engine is at least as good as the 163cc LIKE. Brakes are better on the LIKE - or at least the lever pull is much, much lighter on the LIKE.
Maxis tires seem fine - though my riding style never much tests tires. (I want the best tires - "just in case!")

Servicing to date :
Oil (Bel/Ray 5W-40) and filter (Piaggio) change
Valves checked
Iridium NGK installed
Side stand installed
8" Piaggio Fly screen installed
Gear oil level checked
Underseat Deltran Battery Tender pig-tail w/USB port installed

Thoroughly enjoying this scooter (and I don't miss the Burgman)...do wish Honda and Kymco would have let me shop new, big-wheeled 150/250 class scooters with ABS in this country. That would have been fun picking one from those 3!!

the bv 350 sport has combined brakes back to front,  I jam the rear brake and you get a rumble at the leaver ,I can feel it pulsing  tried the front brake and all I get is a fast stop,.  A little chicken to try it at high speed,. the rear end feels like it could lift, at 50 MPH., normaly I always use both brakes and coast to a stop, never tail gate,  at 84 years why take a risk for nothing, if I fall bones break,  I wish I was 18 again, Geo. Came pretty close this morning Karl on my coffee village ride out into the boonies. An opossum was doing that, "I don't know. Maybe. Oh crap!"
dance in the dark road in front of me and I got hard on the brakes. But not hard enough for the ABS to take over.
Pretty cool that God would give reflector eyeballs to night creatures so we can spot 'em in time on our scooters!

Glad your new scooter is all, or most all, you expected. In a panic stop you'll like the way it slides in a straight line. A possum could take a light bike like that down at speed. Had a friend go down on a HD dresser with his wife on board when they hit a coon dead-on at around 50mph one night.  Be careful

Dang !
We had a Florida LIKE200i rider hit an armadillo one time....just a squish and a fright...but she came away OK, she posted. Her experience taught me to stay in car tire tracks when following a car. The center section is where the roadkill is usually found. That's what happened to her....going down the lane center when the sleeping armadillo popped out in front of her.
I remember this, when riding.

Glad to hear you can still get a ride in De Dee. I tried the mitts, but I had a lot of trouble getting my hands back in them if I ever took them out. 90 MPH? You need to slow it down young man!  ;)

10,0200 Km.  today I passed the 10,000 this morning ,  changed the oil added tungsten-disulfide 1 TSP. checking my gas mileage and I find I cannot put more than 9.6 lts. of gas in the tank from dead empty, checking the tank with stick to see if there is some in the bottom of tank, totally dry!!!there is supposed to be 14 liters in the tank,  should  have a range of 400 Km.s, with 14 liters,  going to check the tank next.,,and talk to the dealer,.
