In response to your questions, after much deliberating I have come to the conclusion that The Like 50 4T does NOT have a rev-limiter on the CDI.
I have spent many many hours trawling the forum's, chatting with dealers and googling and have been assured that there is nothing cutting off the power at a certain rpm/speed.
However, there are 3 things that will be holding us 4T riders back...
1/ Variator Drive Boss. Modifying that drive boss at first service (same time as mine) will do wonders! - The thing rides like a new machine, and you can enjoy 70 - 75km/hr on the flat, and 80 - 85 on a slight downhill. The up-hills are another story though....
2/ Breathing is a big issue. From what I understand, changing the exhaust will do wonders. Obviously, if the CDI isn't restricted and its running out of steam on a downhill, then it probably can't get the air out fast enough! I've Just ordered a LeoVince SP3 exhaust from Italy that is still reasonably quiet, but will flow much much better.
3/ Fuel. With a better exhaust bolted on I believe that the stock (19mm) carb will be the next thing to hold me back. Even with bigger jets and a pod filter, there's only so much air the lil' sucker will er.. suck.
Now I've just ordered a 24mm Keihin CV carb that while some disbelievers will argue that its too big, I am told that I can always restrict the inlet side of things should I need to. Well it's easier to do that rather than trying to force more air down a smaller carb now, isn't it?
Good choice of ride, too.... although i'm slightly biased
