Hey everyone. I just bought a new battery from battery's plus bulbs. It was about $127.00, but it has 220 cold cranking amps. My true gel was getting weak and not hardly turning over the engine on cold mornings any more. The gel was 180 C.C.Amps. This new battery is the strongest battery I have ever had in my 2007 X-500. Spins faster than ever before. I would think this battery would cure any and all cold start issues with the fuel injected bikes. The only battery more powerful than this one would be a lithium. But they are normally over $200.00 Good Luck.

Hope that works well for you, and for a long time.
I use YUASA spec pages, and hunt for the most powerful battery of the same size as my scooter's, with same connection configuration. The actual "scooter" listings do not cover all possibilities from their line of batteries.
My way adds only the step of measuring the stock battery...and this can be done without removing the battery.
Hope these bigger batteries cure the no-start issues of that 500 single.
I see Kymco has deleted the 500 from the USA line-up.

Gee, sales were kinda slack for the 500 so they gave up, huh? S'pose the starting, cam failure problems had anything to do with that? I would think that SOMEONE in the marketing pile would be curious about what owners think. Maybe they blame it on scoots don't sell well in the US. Sure can't be that anyone with a 100k line of credit can be a dealer. Can it?

I think Kymco said something about the new 400 being more powerful, lighter, etc. A single pot 500 seemed strange to me for a scooter.
For pete's sake. ...buy a nice twin 500 bike ...those are all well sorted.

A 500 single is a thumper. My 600 SW was as smooth as glass. One lungers are cheaper to build, but won't out last a twin. Anything over 250cc is better with a twin. IMHO

The 400 is reportedly smooth and similar in power to the 500 with less weight to throw a around.
I did get a chance to look one over, but didn't take it for a spin before it sold.
The 500 was a bit of an odd beast IMHO.  It seemed to exist because the 250 was marginal for faster roads.
I looked one over & did take a short ride, but eschewed it for a used Burgman 650, not because it was a bad bike, but because the burger is really quite nice.

The new battery I purchased was also 220 cca. I also got the same results. Faster cranking and for the first time since bought new in 2010....it actually starts under 40 degrees now!  So very happy!

The 400 is down about 2-4 horse power or so than the 500, but get's much better MPG. It is lighter etc, so I doubt there is any noticeable difference in take off speed, high way speeds difference and so on. I want to take a real close look at the 400, but the seat height is 32 inches? So it sets high like the Yamaha T Max 500/530. They are to tall for me, kills my back, and i'm tippy toed. Don't like that.
