Retrofiting a 300cc motor on a 250cc scooter.

This is probably more of a speculative question than anything since it'd be an expensive experiment, but I'm curious.

The People GTI 300 engine looks an awful lot like the People 250 engine. What are the chances it might actually fit on a People 250?

Potential issues I can think of:

Obviously, geometry. The engines seem to have the same holes/bushings in the same places. But they could be slightly different.

I'm thinking the People 250 carburetor might just bolt on fine, in place of the 300 fuel injection. But would it work right on the different/larger engine?

The exhaust might be oriented differently -- not necessarily a huge issue.

Does your engine look like the attached image?  If so, they're available in 250cc & 300cc sizes, delivered by FedEx (depending on your country), about US$1000 each, from many different sources. They're used by perhaps fifty different scooter brands, not cheap but not as expensive as a Kymco-branded mill.

It looks pretty similar. I guess at that rate, there's also Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki engines that look similar. It's kind of interesting how similar they look.

But the People 300 engine is much more similar, obviously a revision of the engine in the People 250.

$1000 is too much to justify putting into it either way (otherwise I'd order a used direct replacement from Italy), and I'd have the same questions/concerns.

you would be my hero if you tried i used to deal with scrappy dog scooters when i had a chinese scooter a lady named Osa would help me usually they sell complete motors that’s who i would try for a cheap new motor option (if a cheap one will bolt up) another route they have auctions for wrecked motorcycles and i’ve seen people 250 non s before good luck i’m glad your gonna fix it i’m gonna drive my scoot as long as i can if you like it ride it kymco doesn’t make one like it anymore

How did you figure that Scrappy Dog is a Kymco dealer?
