The first time I had my LIKE's belt cover off there was a lot of gasket stuck to it. I tried a couple of things and then I taped 3 sheets of fairly fine sandpaper together ....put the sandpaper sheets on a concrete floor and slid that belt cover back and forth on it a couple times and it came up clean as a whistle.

the big difference is that a cvt cover gasket has no real purpose, it doesn't seal anything in...vs the engine case gaskets that hold oil in the engine. Any scratches or gouges in the aluminum engine cases and you can have oil leaks. I'm still looking for the old style, toxic paint remover to try on the gaskets.

True enough, although my garage floor is pretty flat....and that belt cover was too. Lightly greased the new gasket so no more fighting removing it next time.

Thank you (and please tell the same to your wife)! Looks like it's 12 poles, and if I remember right when testing voltage it has 2 male prongs. Tough to tell on eBay and Amazon what connectors they use though.

I'm back home and realized I didn't include a pic of the plug end of the stator..you're right, 2 male ends plus 1 additional wire.

So on that note does anyone know if a stator like this would be compatible? I don't have the old stator with me but the photo from scooterdynasty looks similar with 12 poles.

Can we stick to the topic, please?  The post was about starter clutches, not GY6 Starters, nor about stators.  Let's stick to the starter (sprag) clutch question please!

Sprag clutches. Not all Kymcos have these awesome starters, They're like Continental airplane starters, so the information is scarce. Please forgive me for crying "foul", but we were on a roll before the topic got hi-jacked. It could be a year before the topic returns.

funny, I didn't realize I wasn't replying to the original poster..yes, best to start a new thread when one has a question...but as Stig said, scooter forums are pretty quiet places to begin with..glad to hear from most anyone!
