« on: July 22, 2010, 12:15:40 PM »
Yesterday im riding and stop at the store. i come out of the store and the scoot wont crank. so i check for fire. wasn't getting any. so i switched cdi's still nothing. so i thought it was the coil......... i wake up this morning and checked for fire and now i got plenty. when a coil goes bad will it still work sometimes or is my problem somewhere else? i checked the on off switch 2

whats up dre? anyway, if i am not mistaken, the coil can act weird, along wit the cdi(which you said you swapped out anyway). the regulator can also act up...some just die, some act weird..i would check coil and regulator...(just for the sake of argument, change plug also)......oh yeah, what side of n.c do you call home??..

its da joker! what's up batman. i'm in winston. i went and had the coil checked and they said the wire had a bad spot. but i'm thinking the problem is somewhere else. i'm gonna ride her and see what she does. i unpluged everything and sprayed wd-40 on all the connections but they all looked good. is the regulator and stator the same thing? i hope its not the stator. i hate pulling fywheels.

i'm not sure about the ppl location....on the zx it is under the nose cone plastic attached to the down tube..... no, they are different pieces.....now if your wire is bad, i would try and change that cause your spark is going haywire to begin with....bout the same price as a regulator( its a lil box with cooling fins on top)........

i got a REALLY dumb question now. what's the front shield? im thinking the part in the front with the big chrome under the headlight. i went and bought a new coil. when i put it on i wasn't getting fire i thought it was bad. so i put the old one back on. still no fire so i started playing with the cut off while trying to start it(with a screw driver in the coil) and when i switched it on and off i'd get 1 spark and about the third time i tried this i got fire again. i'm thinking its the cut off switch. when i find one gonna order it.... but until then i guess im gonna trace the wires and cross them and just use the switch

Ya the chrome thingy  ;D you will be able to look at the ignition while there also, get your tape ready seems 10 years things start to wear in there might want to check the routing move to less binding area if possible or tape the hell out of it  ;) electric part cleaner may be enouph to straiten out the ignition itself,i use the spray on stuff works great and compressed air if you have access.Good luck

Don't forget: Al Gore is STILL FAT.

... and, AFAIK, he still lives like four miles away from me. Maybe not for much longer, of course, but...
