Be Nice To See Kymco Make A People GTI 500 ?

Just purchase my Kymco People GTI 300 in June. i started thinking Kymco shouldn't stop at 300 why not make a People GTI 500 with twin disc up front make the compression ratio 11   16 front 14 rear wheel combo some how get at least 40 at the wheel anyone like to add any details ? By the way im some what new to the forum, & this  is my first post .

Are there any step-thru highway touring scooters?

A 300 and a 400 are certainly highway capable, with a 400 being a possible 'touring' bike (as is the Burgman 400).....but a genuine 'high speed for hours' touring scooter in a step-thru frame?? Trying to think if I've ever seen one even in European markets?

Certainly the large body Vespa 300 guys have, and do, take their scoots touring across continents....even on their tiny wheels, so I guess it is possible.
My impression is that most Vespa 300 owners do not buy their scooters to do multi-state touring on the interstate system.

But for a company to create a huge 500cc, step-thru body and market it as a tourer (for why else would you need 500cc's??) seems an unlikely proposition these days.

Is a step-thru scooter as stable , and comfortable, at 75 mph as is a large sit-down-and-in type scooter?

Well, I did sit on a 500cc Piaggio BV years ago - so I guess they did make them. But the Beverly is not really a flat-floor step-thru scooter type, like the GTi Kymco.



Nor is the Scarabeo 500.

There probably comes a point where you want the extra rigidity of a tunnel like that, not to mention to move the fuel filler out from under the seat if you're going to tour.

Kymco could make one but it would have a 1.4 gallon tank!

I don't think having a minor tunnel with the Aprilia Scarabeo 500 and the Piaggio Beverly 500 would be a deal breaker. I consider my Downtown 300i a step-through design. Bonus points if the gas tank is moved down into the tunnel or floorboard, opening an actual underseat storage space.

Large diameter wheels are delightful for touring. They give amazing stability to a bike for high speed cruising and cornering.

There are times when I'd like the extra torque from a bigger motor like the Xciting 500Ri especially when hauling up hills. But I purchased my bike for my typical usage scenario in the city. My wallet will thank me for most of the year for my savings on gas and insurance.

The bump would get in the way when hauling things. If that's not a priority, I'm not sure why you would care.

My People 250 with no bump actually had two gas tanks, one in the lower part of the leg shield, and another under the floorboard.

I've never actually investigated what the bump is typically used for.

In the Downtown 300i   it is the radiator over-flo  in the leg shield

Many have thought he same.
Kymco seems to think 300 was the place to stop and they did....stop making the 300.
Shame great motor.

Short of possibly the AK I’m not seeing kymco in the large displacement market here. The 300 class seems to be the spot other manufacturers want to hit here.

I'm not sure why you would want the smaller wheel?
Should think 17s so we can get access to real tires.

And increased stability. 

I got 9500 miles out of the oem Maxis rear and had a choice of 4 tires. [emoji52]
Went with Avon aramid radials instead of the four or two plies available from everyone else.

Why relegate ourselves to scooter  tires instead of embracing that we are basically motorcycles.

Storage is a greater concern on scooters than motorcycles. The smaller diameter rear relative to the front will create more room for underseat storage.

Otherwise, a Honda NC750X is a great bike for twist and go, potentially with an even smarter and more flexible transmission. I wish Honda brought over the scooter-framed version.
