Center Stand Lock
« on: April 18, 2018, 11:20:28 PM »
Here's a new one on me.
Locks the center stand down with the toe push of a button.
Unlocks with a key.

I seem to recall that a locking capability was standard on some Honda scooter (Elites?) center-stands in the 80's.

I found an example from much later, but I'm sure they were around in the 80's.

What does this offer over the standard steering lock? Is it just a matter of a thief being less willing to deal with two locks than one?

I'm supposing that the center stand itself could be cut off very quickly with an angle grinder, and reasonably quickly with a hacksaw. Assuming the entire thing isn't just lifted into the back of a van.

Well, any 12yr old can snap a steering lock.....and the center stand lock then eliminates the roll away. Also keeps scoot from falling on a gradient.
Nothing prevents powered cutter.
Nothing is 'proof'....just motivating him to move on from my scoot to steal your scoot. :)
