End of the Like 200i?
« on: May 11, 2018, 12:16:33 PM »
Recently purchased two new Like 200i's, and based on my experience I wonder if 2018 marks the last year for these scooters:  The price has been drastically reduced, they had to be ordered from overseas, were only available in white, the tires were a year old and have gone out of round ("from sitting too long" according to Kymco HQ).  In light of all this, and the new Like 150 coming in now, I'm getting the feeling these are the last of the 200 breed.  Probably built late last year.  Fair enough, and they certainly are a whopping good deal, but if you decide to get one (or two), do yourself a favor and insist that the tires are replaced before taking delivery.

The tires on my new-old-stock DT300I failed rather quickly so you are right, in my opinion! The back tire was into the TWI at less than 4000 miles.

Well, at least run it briskly on the center stand. There were a boatload of left-over scoots sitting on dealer floors for years after the crash.
Flat spotting and age cracks didn't come to light as an issue, especially when properly inflated and kept indoors.
Dealer has to say something. ....
My dealer has three 200i's sitting on his floor, zero 150i's.
If I recall correctly,  that new LIKE was supposed to be here 2 years ago.
As a left-over. ...the LIKE200I may be around for some time,  even if "discontinued", like the 2016  "FORZA 300" Honda and 2014 SilverWing.

A PS to the above - big difference with Honda, those left-overs aren't discounted.

I mentioned this before in another thread but I spoke to the (Australian) Kymco rep a while ago and he said that they were originally going to stop selling the 200i when the 150i was in stock but have since decided that because the 150i cost a lot more that the 200i that they will continue selling the 200i as it will still be very popular for those riders who want a new scooter at a low price.

Yeah, I  think I could get out the door with a 2018 LIKE200i at $1000 less than I paid 5yrs ago. Crazy good price on this scooter.
And my 2013 price was after the big price drop after initial release. (mentioned on justgottascoot.com)
If I were 30 I'd buy one and save it for later.

Down here in the Gulf area of the States, Like 200's can be had for $1800+ fees and taxes (got a pair for $2392 each out the door).  They also have the new 150's in stock at $2200+. Not a big difference in price.  We chose the 200's based on size, style, ease of service, and a reputation for reliability.

You're right, that is not a big difference but overhere it is a $1,500 difference  :-\.
