Rev limiter disabled and some easy mods
« on: July 26, 2010, 05:40:40 PM »
Here's the culpret! It's seemed to be kicking in a little premature on my scoot and at the worst times.
It plugs into the lower right post.

Next- The bike was hitting it's power band too early for my taste, making the motor work harder than needed at 50+ mph. A stiffer contra spring did the trick here plus a set of dr pully 16g.
This took the hit off the line away and moved it to just off idle smoothly! From there it's like electric glide to 50mph than has another nice hit when power band is in stride, has a larger bike feel.
I had to make the contra so don't now the tension, more info when oem replacments show up

Next- To compliment the the smoother feel. A little more horse power. I upjetted the main to a .047 according to my calipers with mixed results. (damn camera)

Next- Needed some more airflow. Tried a few 1/4" holes, not enouph so off with the cover. Now this motor is alive! I will most likely add some 1 1\2"  holes in the outer cover and some black flyscreen to the inner to keep the critters out  ;D  I don't know if this is a stock airfilter, sure looks like a k/n  ???

Next- The results,Pro, The bike will sip gas now around town at 35mph and under. There is no stress on the motor, takes less than an 1/8th throttle to mantain this speed,at a 1\4 throttle will hold to under 50mph all day long. When needed the thing does have some umph now and will not cut your rev's if you need that little bit more. Has a great feel to it now with the handling of a 50cc Vary nice!!!
The cons, I did not get my 70+ out of it yet! It will hold an indicated 70+ but we all know it's 4 mph optimistic. You will be sacrificing some mpg's for the top end power(small price to pay in my book) and the model has been difficult to get good  parts info on even from the factory, for instance the actuel belt size! I think i got it figured out a malossi 795x19.8x30 (not verified) would like to try a little longer one though.
So to sum it all up,The mods were positive and changed the bike for the better in my opinion(I did not get authorization if wondering  ::) )  I'm in it for the cost of the 16g rollers and a jet(left over from another project) I feel that kymco just missed a home run with this model. The bottle neck being the internal gearing, cause the motor is sweet in this frame!
Still got some tinkering to do. I aint done yet!  Hopfully ya'll can read this cause if ya can't frankly my dear i don't give a damn  ;D

...transparency.....that's why you my muthaf*cka....

 ;D

..final drive gear changes would get you where you want to be...

..how about the larger diameter rear tire??

..of course, with either mod, that'd throw you back to square one on everything else....

Ha! goining through that with the 50 right now(by the way I'm back in the 60+ club) I'll post in the other thread.  I will be doing some more with the s200. Going to run me anouther $40 to test and possibly another belt size. Found some contra springs for it,on order and got to verify the belt size. The belt with the cover off seems to slap around a bit It were'nt right In stock form and not quite dialed in yet,the drive and clutch pulley seem to be fighting each other a bit if I can get this smoothe look out. It will take a tire up Hmmm  ;D  Going to stay cheap on this one for now. Think i can get another 5 mph out of it we'll see!

...the first +ten mph are relatively easy...

 ;)

..after that, it gets a bit more tedious...

..i'm putting the red Leo fly springs in my guilty right now..(finally found them..they were in the pack they came in so i could find them easily)...lol..

..hoping it'll get rid of the belt grab at initial throttle...it's very annoying...

Still waiting on some parts so decided to get to that spark plug today(what a pain)Don't know what thay were thinking on this! (They were'nt  :D )
Anyway was looking good a hair ritch so decided to open the pipe a little. Four 1/4" holes (at the back near outlet) and instant pick up off the line and sounding a little meaner! Gained about a 1/2 second on 0 to 30 will try a top speed run later on.
