104 MPG 155cc Piaggio, error!
« on: May 19, 2018, 05:36:32 PM »
Checked the mileage for the first time in months this morning on my 2018 Piaggio Liberty 150i ABS, with the 3V, i-Get 155cc engine.
104.28 miles per gallon.
Which i think is about 5 or 6 MPG better than when I checked it when new 10 months ago.
@1700 miles on this scooter after a very long, snowy winter.

My 5 yr old LIKE200i hasn't been checked in years - but used a gal. about every 72 miles when last checked.

The newer generation Piaggio 155cc 3-valve engine also has quite a bit more pep than the 2-valve 163cc LIKE200i engine has, or ever had.
Both are air-cooled EFI engines.
I imagine the 150cc 2nd generation LIKE will have more power and better fuel efficiency than the 163, as well.

Out riding in the country this morning.

Camera caught the R signal bulb just coming on , or just cancelling off.

Last time I got MPG like that I was on a 2t 50cc Jawa moped, & lived in a very flat area.
Nice.

I really, really like the look of your Piaggio and could make a case for a change to one, but the 150cc model just isn't available in the EU - it's such a shame.

We have the 125 Liberty or the 300 Beverly - which, to be fair, seems quite a machine!

We have the Piaggio Medley 150 in Australia and I was thinking of one for my next purchase but at the moment there is a recall on them due to weak frames.  Second recall for Piaggio as the Fly was recalled a short while ago.

That's a shame. The Medley is the up-scale version of the Liberty....although I've never seen the new Medley here in Ohio.
Think we jump to the BV350.

Edit today....
Do not think that I had fully filled the Liberty's tank when checking mileage. Tried it again. ...and came up with 90mpg.
Major gripe about my Liberty is the tight fill neck on the tank. Gas blows back when anywhere close to full, even if slowly filling.
In short, tank wasn't full ....just blowing back again.

Yeah the only bike that ever yielded 100+ mpg for me was an Allstate (Puch) Moped. It was my first ever bike and I used to run the snot out of that little engine.

Depends on variables including terrain notably (Around here I'm outa luck).
http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/honda/pcx150
The PCX appears to come pretty close for a 150cc, but I'll note that the 150 PCX was not as quick as the older 150SH150i that didn't make 100mpg (but was pretty respectable).

All told..nothing to be ashamed of at 90MPG.
I'd take that in a heartbeat vs. the power of my old Jawa 2T & the 100mpg gas (plus some oil) I got out of it.
