Plug check time frame
« on: July 28, 2010, 05:41:40 AM »
I understand that when you make a change you should check the plug to see if it's running lean or fat...

How long, assuming I feel no immediate effects, should I wait to check the plug?

After a ride around the the block, don't want to run too lean for too long It can damage your motor! Got to look at the plug right after any changes.  It's the only clue as to what your motor is doing after any changes.

Woops, haha. Ok then.

Where the he'll is it? I assume I have to take the helmet box off. Also, how do I adjust the mixture?

Not very handy with the tools but I may take a more hands on approach with this.

Its the wire that goes into the Cylinder head.  Unplug that, and use the tool that came with your scooter to take out the spark plug.  You'll have to take out the middle piece of tubberware right above the floor board.  Meaning you'll have to take the seat off.

slinger- I didn't get the manual but I did get the tool.  Also, didn't get the goody bag to derestrict the variator, need to find that part.

art- its an '07 a50. stock except I've cut the cdi.  I am a big guy, 250, and it made a HUGE difference.

Need. More. Speed.

gonna derestrict the variator asap, and do a enviromoto stage 3 upgrade after that.  Probably in a couple weeks.

..according to the build of your guilty, removing the cdi and drive boss restrictions will get you up to 47 mph indicated, downhill, and maybe 42 on the flats (wind speed and direction matters) without having to do any other mods...

I just got back from a test run using a gps.  im hitting 41 mph on the downhills.  the speedo seems to be off, as in reads higher, by about 5mph.  But cutting the cdi gave me a solid 5mph.  Im having a hard time finding the part to derestrict the variator online.

Granted I've only looked tonight, but Ive seen one place and its eruo...

hope my local shop has the part seeing as they're a kymco dealer.  might order an airfilter and new jet from enviromoto, powerpack 1...

Don't know about doing it all myself... I've seen that you can get into trouble very quickly, and I don't have the know how to unsrew what i've screwed up.

I think we've seen what happens when the sh** hits the fan, just ask shubonker...

...get rid of the boss first...before you order anything else...

..go one step at a time, and the drive boss restriction is the thing you must do next...

..that'll give you at least another 5mph...

..after that, we'll get into a free-flow air filter and larger jet combo...

..and yeah, these scoot's speedometers all read a little optimistic...

..on mine, the offset reduces as speed increases..

well, talking to my friend, and previous owner of my scoot, the shop it came from automatically puts on the unrestricted drive boss.

that means im at my limit. 41 mph Makes sense... Im heavy and there are no flat roads around here. Im also 6 foot so I hit a lot of wind...

going to order the power pack i mentioned previously tomorrow...

...UNI Performance Intake
...Visu High Quality Fuel Filter
...NGK Spark Plug
...#88 Main Jet

If you can, upgrade to the K/N filter. It do make a difference,I got a shelf full of uni's I'll sale ya cheap  ;)  I'd also like to see a bigger jet in that deal you may need another to fine tune. Your  elevation and tempiture affects the tuneing. One size do not fit all in the tuneing department. It looks great after that. ps I'm in thr 200 + club also kinda why i went for the 16" tires on my scoots, should of seen me on the dio I was playing with. NO WAY NO HOW!!!  ;D
