AGILITY 50 DE-RESTRICTED CDi BOX
« on: July 28, 2010, 09:32:58 PM »
Does a person gain anything by buying a de-restricted CDI box or is this just for the people that don't dare cut in wire in their existing CDI box?  I'm just wondering if there are any additional benefits.

..you can order, from Sutai, a "programmed" cdi that will manipulate your engines performance at certain revs...

..however, for most ppl, if you CAN de-restrict your cdi, by whatever method, then it's a FREE mod well worth the time it takes to learn how it's done..

..a "race" cdi is only better, if you also upgrade all the other ignition components...

..just my opinion...

Mine is a 2009 model and has the following wire colors: Green, blue/yellow, black/yellow, and black. I have noticed that in some of the pictures of the CDI boxes that some appear to be transparent on the top that you cut into so you can see what you are doing.  My box happens to be solid black so you can't see what you are doing until you cut into it. Is it safe to gently cut into it with a hack saw or razor blade until the copper wire becomes visible and cut through it.  Should I still looking for the same brown copper wire to cut through that was described in a previous forum?  Thanks!

...don't be alarmed if you don't see the wire...

..sometimes, the tool will drag plastic back over the copper, making it hard to see...

..this is a pic of my cdi, that was ground off by my dealer...

..as you can see, there is nothing you could damage by cutting a small notch, as shown in the previous post..

..you can further see that my cdi has the same color wires as yours...

..the red wire is not connected to the cdi...

Thanks wordslinger!  I made the change and got an extra 5 mph out of it.  I weigh about
235 pounds and previously 30 mph was my maximum speed.  I can now get up to 35 mph which helps a lot.  I noticed that my speedometer on the scooter shows about 5 mph higher than it really is.  When the scooter says I'm doing 40 mph my GPS I took with me says 35 mph.  I think Kymco wants me to think I'm going faster than I really am.  Would  anyone recommend me working on the boss drive for the next modification or the carberator?  I would really like to be able to get it up to 45 mph. Thanks!
