Iridium Plug Question

   Based on suggestions from this forum, I got an Iridium plug for my new Like 200i, and will install it at the next valve adjustment.  So my question is: do you set the gap differently when using one of these new fangled high tech gizmos, or is it the same as a normal plug?  Inquiring Luddites wanna know...

Same plug gap applies with the iridium. They are supposed to come pre-gapped but it's always worth it to check. ;)

You going with a Denso, or NGK?
I actually tried but removed a Denso Iridium plug. Dont remember why - but found an engine behavior difference in the two. Put the NGK back in. Don't change the heat range, or the gap if that card tube is in place and unmolested.
Don't know what others found, but I found a slight increase in idle speed and idle stability - something I really appreciate when sitting stopped in heavy traffic!

NGK CR7HIX is the plug I chose, Stig, as per your suggestion.  I'll be sure to check the gap and set to spec before installing.  Smoothing out the idle is precisely what I'm hoping for...

The idle was definitely smoother with the iridium on my scoot. After 3000 miles I removed to check and the gap was unchanged and heat color was a lovely tan. I have not removed it again.

Glad to hear this - one wonders if it was just my imagination.
Also, hate fooling with these tiny and delicate little plugs. The fewer times I  have to remove and install them in these engines the better for me!

You should gap them like normal, but remember that the Iridium electrodes are especially delicate. Take extra care not to put any pressure on them.
