I couldn’t even win when I tried to make a point with a street sign. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I guess the answer to that question totally depends on the intended use. Before my accident, I used my scooter as alternate transportation to my town car. As a result, I’d drive it to work several times/week 50 miles one way. So I NEEDED something that was highway capable. There was one unavoidable 4 lane stretch where the traffic moved at 65+. Also, ALL roads leading away from my house are narrow lane road with few passing zones and several blind curves and hills. They have a 45mph Speed limit (SUGGESTION). But even the older people regularly drive 55 (including me) who live out there and KNOW the road. Anything with a motor needs to be able to accelerate to 65 Quickly in emergencies and settle in at 55 for safety. I’m not one to try to make a point with a 4,000+ pound vehicle on my tail IMPATIENTLY waiting to pass. Lol.

I understand Forbes, but I'm never going to put myself in a position to have to do 65.
I had two cars come up behind me in the light fog this morning on a 35>50mph stretch of county road.
As soon as we came to a straight bit of road I slowed and waved them past. No issues.

There is an older couple riding SYM 125's on country roads - they've ridden tens of thousands of miles on their little scooters. No issues. Wave people past.

A guy in Calif. with a Honda 50 Metro - thousands of miles - even takes it camping in the high country. No issues. Wave 'em by.

There ARE areas where I will not ride my small scooter - congested 4-lane blvds - I just stay off of them. Heck, I would not ride my 500lb Burgman 400 there!

So it seems as if the answer depends on the purpose one intends to use the scooter. As stated above, I used mine as an alternative to a car riding to work nearly 50 miles from home. I simply would not have done so on a scooter that couldn’t reach highway speeds. It would have limited my riding to the scooter’s capabilities. I likely would have only used it for pleasure and as a weekend toy rather than a daily driver. If keeping up with the flow of traffic is important, then having a scooter capable of doing so is necessary. If not, then a 150 is fine.

When I drove my Agility 50, I always waved people passed (or just stayed in the shoulder.) but I had more than a few people try and run me off the road from the shoulder.
Some people are absolutely crazy when it comes to a vehicle daring to go slower than them while they travel 25mph over.
Now I can easily twist my wrist and be far away from those people (after some blue truck nearly slamming me, I do not stick around distracted drivers.)

Morning Forbes,
Writing here after my sunrise, backroads, ride for a cup of coffee in rural Ohio.
You'd like a 150, or even a 125, if you joined me.
I made this silly post after a happy morning ride a few weeks ago...."this is great!, why would anyone need more than the 155cc's I'm sitting on 😊 !?"
I drive in Florida, where you live,  every year. I  tell you....I would not ride a Ducati Monster out there every day with those people!
Yeah, no.
150's have a limited safe area in the States. I'm happy that I live in one of them.

In and around Tallahassee, leisurely rides abound on weekends. During the workweek and when grade schools and universities are in session, it’s a different world. And when our lovely lawmakers (who ran on a platform of anti-Tallahassee) are in Town , Leisure riding (4 wheels or two) is at your own risk. [emoji23][emoji23]
