2018 Kymco Xciting 400i ABS

I was looking for the rack without the braces that mount to the tag mount.
I found one Italian site and one Philippine rider that says they used either the 300 or 500 grab rails which have the plate in the rear instead of the open space like the 400i comes stock. Then mount the luggage rack plate to the grab rail bracket which will allow mounting the top case without the support brackets.
If I can locate and purchase one of these grab rails at a decent price, I'll give it a try.

Hey everyone! Long time no see!
So it’s been 9500 miles.
That’s including a 2000 mile trip in July, where she was fully loaded (two passengers, and luggage for a week)
And the rear tire blew yesterday.

Had no intentions of running it so low, but in the middle of a move and didn’t want to order the tire till I moved. Just in case.

But I ordered a michelin rear tire, hopefully get it mid next week!

Where are y’all at so far!

Good to see you Alexis. Man you put on the miles....I barely put on a 1000 over the course of 7 months. I would be curious about your thoughts after 10k miles on the 400i performance.

Will absolutely get you the details!
But I did just move to Colorado! At about 7k feet I’ve lost a not insignificant amount of power, but it’s still more than enough!

I’m loving this new tire so far, as well. It’s the Michelin City. Still new, it’s snowed a few times, and moving has been eating into riding time!

And I’ll have it probably to atleast 18k miles by the end of 2019, huge trip planned for the summer!

Just want to pipe in to say I appreciate all the great feedback from the owners. I'm looking to get a maxi scoot soon and the 400i is on my shortlist. Actually, it's now at the top of my list since finding a dealer who's blowing them out at nearly half the price of the B400. The catch is I'll have to take care of minor maintenance, so before pulling (squeezing?) the trigger, I'll need to make sure I can source the usual parts and consumables.

Just something to note about starting the Kymco 400i at low temperatures. I had the bike in my garage today at around 40 deg F and it started with no problems. I had to place my bike outside today while they were fixing my garage door and then about an hour later tried to start the bike in 30 degree F weather and it would not start. It had a full charge because I have had it on a battery tender, but there seems to be at temperature at which it wont start. I think the 500i had similar problems. Just an FYI if you have experienced similar problems.

That is a concern!
Please describe how it behaved at 30 degrees.
Turning over a touch slowly...?
Is the stock battery not carrying enough CCA to satisfy the EFI at that temperature?
When heading out to ride on a cold day, I'll have a lot on my mind - bike starting perfectly must be a given.
I could not own a scooter that would not start at 30°F.

At around 30 deg, it was barely turning over. I was afraid the starter was going to burn out. The battery had a full charge according to my battery tender. I didn't check the voltage from the battery. It had the normal starting noise, but it seemed that the engine was not engaging(turning over). It would almost engage for a blip, but then nothing. After I got the bike in the garage, it warmed up to around 35 deg, it turned over with a little bit of hesitancy. At 40 deg I had no problem starting the engine. There does seem to be a temperature issue with this bike. I don't normally ride the bike until at least 50 deg outside. I hope that helps.

Aaarrgghhhh! Sounds like Stig said, they put a scrawney, low CCA battery in like the 500i ! I have two batteries in parallel in my UXV 500i just so it will start properly below 30 deg. F! It is a UTILITY vehicle like a TRACTOR! 'Sposed to be an all-weather machine not a FAIR-weather playtoy!!

You can measure your current battery - then go to YUASA web site chart and look for all the batteries of the same size (or close - if there is a little fudge room) and which have the connecting posts in the same configuration - to find a more powerful battery. I went from a stock 9amp to a 14amp in my LIKE200i. Was only 5mm taller and much more CCA.

You cannot go wrong with a Yuasa like Stig was saying. I'm too cheap so I got a "Chrome" battery off Amazon for about half of a Yuasa. The fat lady ain't sung yet as far as longevity but it is good so far getting close to that crummy white label thing the dealer put in since he robbed the oem battery along with other stuff. That "Chrome" brand had a battery that equalled Yuasa specs with 175 CCA and was as big as the Yuasa.
