How do I derestrict the CDI on Super 9 AC 2007
« on: August 02, 2010, 04:18:06 AM »
I have been trying to figure this out but I cant get a straight answer. Some threads say to cut a green wire, while others say that the 07 doesnt have the green wire and that I should just get a new CDI.

If so which one do I get? Or can I cut some wire to make it work

Remember its an AC 2007 Super 9

Thanks

If you can,get a pic of the cdi posted. Many of the other kymco 50cc's before 2008 are easy to derestrict. I don't know the super 9 that well.
Kymco peoples too many ;) I'm not an expert just a full time hobbiest.

I have an A/C Super 9 also and through some help I found a race CDI for a GY6 plugs right in and will have no rev limit,

with this, de0restricted speed boss, Technigas pipe and larger jet in mt carb and my Dr Pulley roller weights on level ground I was getting my speedo needle just past the 50mph mark. Now remember I am alsao 225 pounds and 6'4"

Here is the link to the CDI I purchased,

Yeah, after racking up miles on the Hayabusa after getting my license back I am having fun cleaning and getting the Super9 running again, a new battery and she fired right up after a few seconds of turning over, I was so excited.

Needs tires bad though, I am thinking about trying to mount them myself, don't want to drop the coin on Michelins but am searching for a decent cheaper set of tires.

I am really thinking about getting the 70cc kit and installing it myself and seeing what I can get out of her.

Thanks man,

I pretty much just parked it and forgot about it and enjoyed the "big bike" for a while, then transfered to a closer office then where I was.

The ole Kymco wants to be ridden again. I am in the process of removiing and cleaning everything right now.

scootertrog recommended the Michelin tires also, I am on bikebandit.com right now checking them out. I might also hunt eBay.

I am curious what the 70cc kit from MHR will get me in top speed and actual torque and acceleration!

Thanks, I am still thinking about it,

gottta get these tires first, lol...

I removed the whole rear plastic "air brake" and fully integrated front and rear turn signals, removed the mirrors and mounted a CRG lane splitting bar end, can't see it in the pic here. Did the 04 tail light lens mod also. Removed the center stand as it's very easily re-installed for maint work and I think they look so much better without the center stand on them.

I just wish they would have had an in dash tach for the A/C models,  >:(

LOL...

Thanks,

I also installed a stronger torque spring and some stronger clutch springs.

I have a feeling after a 70cc kit I would not stop there and look into a performance variator and clutch asembly! Lol...

Hey greenbean-
I think you will LOVE the 70cc kit- I have the very same S9- just went 70cc w/ the Moped Hospital kit, and the same CDI you listed. Also, i have a Jasil variator, red clutch springs, green Malossi torque spring and the Malossi torque compensator- thing. This  Super 9 now SCREAMS- literally. It will pull away from all traffic at a light and haul like a freight train, up to my GPS verified 49 mph( for now).
Best bang for the buck on an A/C Super 9 is the 70cc kit. Just look at your stock exhaust pipe and you can see why they are a slug. Mine was. The 19 mm Arreche carb is pretty sweet, too.

Nice to hear man,

Thanks for pumping me up,

did you install the kit alll yourself? and Did the Jasil and Malossi parts come from them also?

I am also wondering why your top speed is 49 THOUGH???
