Yep, is easy enough to get to, when you take off the section below the tail light, I think it is just two screws to remove the tail light. Replace both bulbs while you are there, the other one will only last a couple more weeks. lol, ask me how I know.:)

there is a rubber hose that comes off the carburetor and runs along the variator cover and then rests in a little metal grommetty thing that screws into one of the air filter's bolt holes.  this got loose during the work that i did and fell off yesterday.  i recovered it but haven't yet put it back on.  where does it go and what does it do?

The question on all our minds is -- is it running yet and if so, how does it do?   ;)  Sorry, don't know about that hose.

oh yeah.  She's running.  I wanna say running great, but i can't put too much torque on her yet.  yesterday after work, i took the scoot to Petsmart to get some cat food.  That's like a 7 minute ride.  When I came out, she started up just fine but then i had to wait for cars and people before i could go and she died.  Couldn't get her started again, this isn't an unusual situation  when i have to idle after just starting.  I think the plug gets flooded.  anyway, that's when i started kickstarting and dislodged that hose.  then i was worried that the hose was critical to starting the scoot, but after 5 or so minutes, she started.  Still need to get that hose hooked up.  I'm thinking it's either the float bowl drain hose, or some kind of vacuum hose, which probably is very critical.

Hi rigpa, that hose would be the vent from the carb, it is not critical but do put it back on to keep any dust out of the carb and to direct any fumes and residue away from the engine. That hard starting is what brought me to this forum in the first place. I had found that it was hard to start after it had been sitting for ten minutes or more. I have recently put a TZR50 cdi on my scoot and it does start a lot easier. I am not saying this is the problem with yours, but something to think about in the future.
