Scooter vandals!
« on: August 22, 2010, 07:38:40 AM »
So my scooter got vandalized, in quite a strange way.  Some time in the past week, somebody stuck two weights on the inside of my wheels.  One of them said 10 grams and the other said 30 grams, and they were little weights that had adhesive on one side.  When I saw the first one, I thought maybe I ran over it on the highway or something; when I saw the other one, I knew someone had played a joke on me, or something.  Strange, yeah?  I clean the bike every couple weeks, never seen those on there before, and no one's worked on the bike in months.  Hehe

Sure does sound like you had your tires balanced.

Maybe they were there and you never noticed.

I agree it sounds like the weights were on there to balance to wheel/tire. Have you noticed any wobble when driving your scooter? The weights may not come into play until you are going at a higher speed like on the highway. That is when wheels/tires start to have and effect on your bikes stability.

Hmm so after your comments seemed reasonable, I looked up wheel weights and I think those were supposed to be there.  Somehow I missed them even though I've cleaned the tires 10+ times.  Perhaps my mind is growing foggy in its old age?  Now I'll have to retrieve them from the trash or order new ones.  Stupid hurts!

Neither, the wheels should be balanced again (by a professional).

You could try "DynaBeads". Here is the Link

You would not need to balance them and you don't need to replace the weights.  Just leave them off and add the correct amount of beads.  You add them via the valve stem in about 5 minutes.
