Yager GT 200i category
« on: August 23, 2010, 11:33:57 PM »
Hello everyone,

I'm a new member and scooterist. I've just recently purchased a Yager GT 200i. From reading through a few entries in this forum and several others it seems the Yager is a hit or miss item among other scooter enthusiast. Having completed my first interstate ride from South New Jersey over the famous Ben Franklin Bridge (topping out at 60 mph -- with plenty more to give) I have really fallen for this bike. Not only did it give me the power to escape traffic, but to pass and gain spots in other lanes.

So, I'd like to know if there are other Yager fans out there, Kymco riders in Philadelphia and South Jersey, and if it's possible to create a separate category for the scooter as an added member of the Kymco line.

Thanks,

ScooterWolf

A lot of views but no replies. That's disappointing.

Not sure how often the board admin drops in, nor how easy/difficult it is to add a new forum.

Scooterwolf, I am a delerious owner of a Yager. I think Kymco got it right I don't care what some of the reviewers say. It is a larger, more pwerful version of the Agility 50 which was my first scooter and it was great and well made. The 200i is higher tech and a willing mount. It feels way more stable and sure compared to my wife's Buddy 150 and I think it is a combo of larger wheels and tires and longer wheelbase. I think you got a good one! Now go ride it!

Thanks, everyone,

Yeah, I have no complaints on the Yager. It's met and surpassed all my mission expectations:

I've ridden over the Ben Franklin Bridge 10 times, once at night, once after a rain, with no problems doing a top speed of 63 - needed to pass into another lane. Better, the bike took the bridge winds (a 135 feet above the Delaware River), requiring just a nudge of counter-steering to stay in place. It was easy to find a bubble and just ride. In Philadelphia keeping ahead of traffic was a joy, and even better was taking Kelly Dr. through Fairmount Park, long stretches of flat twisty roads at 6:30 in the morning.

Taking heavy cargo was also great. On a few occasions I needed to strap a gym bag filled with books and teaching material on the floorboard and tie it down with a bungy-cord wrapped under the scooter. I just placed my feet higher up on the leg shield above the bag and rode Chopper style.

I'm contemplating a topcase. Anyone have any suggestions.

Also, if anyone is in the Philly/South Jersey area I'm contemplating a Weird New Jersey run.

I like the givi 450. It's large and removable. But the price is quite high too. See if you can find an end of summer sale. Givi is about the top of the line in top boxes.  Here's one on an s200. I love the quik release option and this thing holds a ton of stuff Good luck

Cool. Very nice. I already have the Givi site bookmarked. Do you know the liter size of the one in the picture?

Also, does anyone know how to contact an administrator for creating a Yager category?

I believe its 35 liter, the model is the 350 actually. the first two # should relate to the size. check this sight out for some deals on givi.   http://www.premiercycleaccessories.com/GIVI_E340_Vision_MONOLOCK_Topcase_p/gv-e340.htm

Ha! I had to double check it's the simply e450 so 45lt. they do have one on that same sight for the same price as the insall kit that iv'e seen at some of the local shops here. I think it ran near $450 installed at the local kymco dealer, glad it was on the bike when perchased used. So anything under $200 I would consider a deal!  ;)

Thanks for the link. I couldn't find a kit for the Yager GT 200i, or anything in its engine class. I may have to contact the people at Givi for some guidance, but I agree -- $450 is way too high a price. $150 range, or something that can take 10 lbs is more along the lines of what I'm looking for.

Thanks again, Art,

-Wolf

Regular European price for such thing is 100 EUR/case and 30 EUR/mounting pad, if needed.
For many scoots, mounting pad is not needed. (both my scoots, for example).
