Been registered for some time, but not sure if I ever posted before.  Happy to see some of my Battle Scooter friends here also.   I have an 04 Super9 that I have owned since new - about 5k on it with the usual hot rod kit.

Recently I bought an 04 Bet & Win 250, with 170 miles on it.  Seriously, like new.  Runs poorly, as expected, so have cleaned the carb and replaced the fluids.  Ran better, but carb needed better attention.

Took carb apart and found the acc pump diaphram needed replacing, and the mix screw was missing its spring and washer.

Called a couple of online parts vendors, one said he needed the VIN to help, the other did contact Kymco who replied that parts are no longer available.   Could find no online vendor for Keihin CVK carbs who had such parts.

Luckily, took carb to local independent motorcycle shop.  Parts from a Buddy 125 fit the much larger carb.

So my quest for the future is - find vendor for carb parts, and find other scoots that have the CVK 30 carb.  It looks like the Suzuki 250 Burgman uses it (not sold in the US) and probably some other Kymco's.  Anyone have any definitive knowledge where to look?

Searched the forum pretty well with no luck on this info, so thank you if have some suggestions.

I think it's likely that the other 250's share the same carburetor.

Comparing these two diagrams, they certainly look very similar:

Thanks for the replies.  Interesting that the B&W carb stuff is not available and has different parts number than the MOST LIKELY same carb on the People 250 and the Grand Vista 250 (which have the same parts numbers).  Not able to find out if any other brands of PTW's sold in the US use the same carb - so other OEM and aftermarket vendors are still MIA.

Got the replacement parts installed after a good cleaning with PineSol.  Scoot now runs better, particularly coming off idle and into low rpm's, but has a stumble and miss about 4 k's whether with a load or not.  Need to research the cause and cure.  Perhaps adjusting the mix screw may help, but doesn't seem logical.   Smells and acts like it's too rich.

Unfortunately, with the early onset of snow and cold in Michigan my tuning and riding window may be closed.

Maybe just bite it and buy a replacement carb........

It's just an ordinary re-jetting problem.  No need to buy a new carb, you'll still have the problem.  Solved with a selection of jets.  Change jets one step at a time until it smooths out. You need to check both low-speed and main jets. Four jets should do it, one each above and below jet size in your carb.  Rarely will your jets be more than one size off.

Nope - was not a problem that could have been solved by going up or down on jet sizes.  Caught a thread on another forum about an ATV with Kehin CVK problems.  Someone else linked a video about a Harley CVK - something caught my attention.  It was pointed out that often when cleaning the CVK's the "needle jet" gets lost.  The "needle jet" is a small "sleeve" that goes from the float chamber into the throat.  It is held in place by the emulsion tube/main jet.   The needle passes thru this into the emulsion tube.  So when the carb is cleaned, the emulsion tube is removed and the needle jet falls away undetected when the carb is moved.

If I hadn't stayed awake during that video I may have never figured it out.  Pulling the carb it is easy to see that it is missing, as it slightly protrudes into the carb throat.

I was able to remove one from a Buddy 125 carb (which has the same size/style body, but 24mm throat) and install it in the Bet & Win carb.   Had a warm day yesterday for an afternoon ride - the scoot ran perfect!

The prior owner had therefore lost/didn't reinstall three vital carb parts.  I was happy to have figured all this out without much expense - but it took a while to research.

Now to figure out what to do with the horrible seat on this thing!

Well, Dan, don't get lost, stay away or get any severe head injury because with your persistance and insight you have become the resident expert/source carb guru. Your description was as good as a picture on the presence of this part and how easy it is to lose! Thanky you for your efforts!
