New Kymco Electric Superbike: SuperNEX
« on: November 07, 2018, 05:15:46 PM »
Just saw this and thought I'd share. http://canadamotoguide.com/2018/11/06/kymco-supernex-a-wild-electric-superbike-from-taiwan/

Now, what would be interesting is to put that same battery technology into a scooter.  Details, details.

2009 Kymco Frost (aka Yager 200i)

bought used in 2018
2007 Aprilia SR50 (Morini motor)

The SuperNEX has a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 2.9 seconds, 0-200 km/h (124 mph) of 7.5 seconds and – for the truly brave – a 0-250 km/h (155 mph) time of 10.9 seconds.

Shouldn't a superbike be able to beat a Tesla? The P100D can do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and the new roadster is said to do 0-60 in only 1.9 seconds.

I guess it depends on how the power is delivered - as you get huge torque from an electric motor I guess you would have to program the power delivery. Keeping the front wheel down whilst accelerating should be interesting... though not a problem in a Tesla.
Rides;

Suzuki GW250 Inazuma (2016)
Honda C70C (red, 1983)

The Teslas manage that at the expense of a very heavy car, though it doesn't matter in that case. The equivalent battery packs on a bike would just be too heavy, I think. There has to be a tradeoff somewhere.
