After putting 4000 miles on my Vento 2T it was time for an upgrade so last week i got a Super 8 150.
Some of the guys from the scooter club i started road out with me to pick it up.
After a few hours of city "break in" it was time for her first long ride.
I rolled out with my friends Vince and Mike for the Dragon's first long ride.
We headed west on old Route 66 toward Carthage, MO. Stopped on the way at a famous old Sinclair station.
Vince and i bought hats and patches like a couple of tourists.
Then on into Carthage.
Vince rides the yellow and blue Kynco and Mike has the white Genuine Blur. From there we turned south east and wandered back to town. It was a good ride but mostly long straight road and i really missed my Twisty Hunting.
I'm absolutely loving this Kymco and the upgrade to 150cc.
It was a hot day but we pushed through for 180 miles. I put her to bed with 230 on the OD.
This week i made my first mods. I hate the bulky stock turn signals so i took them off to mount sportbike style LED ones. I started by making new smaller brackets. But as i was putting the first LED light on i over tightened the nut and broke the light off the shaft (bolt). The set of 2 cost $30 so i"m trying a fix.
I put a nut on the end of the shaft where it is supposed to connect to the light and glued the nut and shaft to the light pulling on the wires that run through the bolt to secure it. I put a cardboard washer between the two to give the glue something porous to grab onto.. I also put glue on the wires so they are bonded to the inside of the shaft holding it as well.
A little black paint to hide the ugliness and a second nut to mont the whole thing.
Put a dummy nut on the other light and black paint so they match. Seems like it may hold and worth the attempt.
So all set up and mounted now.
After the pics i used touch up paint to "black out" the nut and wires on the underside of the fender.
Then i got up this morning with a few open hours. Noting to do but some random Twisty Hunting. Jumped on with no plan but headin' north.
It was great feeling the first hints of the cool fall air that is just around the corner. Ended up having a Buffalo Burger for lunch and got home 88 miles later still grinning.
That brings us to one week today with this new scoot and just rolled over 400 miles! What a great scoot!
