Hey Rianna - Thanks for checking in.  I'm not traveling again till February.

Haven't been around much because i got a new (old) toy (non Kymco) and since there is not an "off topic" section here i haven't shared the story.  Didn't know if people would think i was "crashing the party" with the new bike.  :)

If ya'll wanna see let me know and i'll share.   Hint, there is a video up on my YT page...

Hi, WT. I can't wait to see February's pics then!

I agree that there should be something titled "Off Topic" around here so folks, especially newcomers, can share things freely without feeling awkward or just not posting because they are uncertain of the 'rules'.

I think I have seen across the web, though, that the fella that runs this place has an interest in many types of bikes because of his own history. I think you should post at least one pic of it here:

General Discussion
Feel free to talk about anything and everything in this board.

It's the closest thing to "Off Topic" that we've got. Please share the story...I'll take the heat if you get fussed at for it or asked to take down your pic. :D

Grrr...you and your dang videos (they are great though)...I will have to wait until I can get to another computer to see that one, but please do PM me the link, or post it, for this YT page as I'm not sure where it's located.

Thanks! :)

Hey WT,

Thanks for chronicling your mods so well and sharing them here!

I just picked up my first scooter three weeks ago - a blue/yellow S8 150, and have been looking at what you've done. I had basically the same ideas on upgrade order of operations (sliders, pipe, CDI, carb) and was curious if you ever addressed the low RPM limit of the CDI by going aftermarket. I understand you have a new toy, and it's been chilly in most parts of the country the last few months...

As soon as I start work on mine, I'll be sure to post before and after pics and videos.  :D

Cheers!

Hey Kevin, glad it was helpful to you.  I don't think you will be disappointed with your new ride and the upgrades to come.

I never did the CDI couse my new toy satisfied my "need for speed' and i wanted to keep the Kymco reliability intact.

I did ride the Draggon a bit this week and she was mad for being caged up all winter.   :D

Nice thread, I'm currently waiting to find a Super 8 150.  It looks like they are totally sold out until the 2012s arrive and the dealers in Phoenix can't get any  :'(

I'm tempted to drive a couple hours south down to Tucson because they have three in stock at a shop down there.  One of each color.

However, on the Kymcousa site it looks like the S8 is getting new colors this year, and I like being the first kid on the block to get the new digs.

we'll see if I can hold out.  One of the dealers said it could be within the next month, however hear in phoenix July and August aren't the nicest months of the year.   I was ready to buy a month ago and the window of nice morning rides is just about closed.

:'(

we will see, I have vacation time next week, so it might be the ideal time to grab one up.

you're going to be really really hot in August.  It's also humid.  Buy you can get out of town to the north east about 80 miles or so and it's cooler.

If you're riding about town there's some killer twisties just north of Phoenix on the way to "Bartlett Lake"

I can't wait to ride them.

you have to admit, the new s8's look pretty sweet though,  I don't think I'd need to remove the decals on the new ones.

Tim and teknik,

I live in Phoenix too! Well, in Gilbert, a southeast suburb...

Just got home from my afternoon commute which I do every day all year on my S8 - 108 degrees in the shade today - and there ain't much shade on the streets... ;)

Of course I work in an office where I have to wear pants and dress shirt but I also wear a mesh armor jacket, backpack, gloves and a full face helmet when I ride.

Yeah, it's hot, but I still love every minute of it!

Teknik, it's still ridable weather at the ass-crack of dawn if you wanna go for a ride. Hit me up if you're interested. What part of the valley do you live in? Have you ridden an S8 yet?

Cheers!

hey Kevin, I sent you a private message.

I haven't ridden the S8 yet, but I have tested a few other scoots out in the last month.  I just can't find a super 8 to even test drive it :(
