Xciting 400i
« on: December 10, 2018, 07:18:09 PM »
Hi, my first post on this forum.
I have a 2018, 400i i love it but theres one thing that im really not keen on... theres no switch for the headlights just a plastic cover where it should be.
So the lights are on all the time, my question is, can i add a switch, are the wires still there?.
I have no idea why theyd take control of the lights away from the rider...

If you are in the US lights on at all times is required in order to be sold. It may be possible to bypass but may require some research into the wiring diagrams.

What Fire said, John. Operator control and I agree. Situation: battery near end of sevicable life, you are on a tripback to the house and the thing will barely turn over. You turn out the lights and it starts! That's why!

Thats exactly why Crossbolt.. the 400i has its twin headlights working all the time the ignition is on...
Any battery problems and thats a huge draw of the available power ...

My take---on scooter with no kick start, ability to bump start----fresh OEM battery (and riding bike everyday keeps you from walking)

Just checked my 2019 Xtown 300I---Kymco does not tak load off battery when starter button pressed.   I some of my Honda's did.

Light on all the time---keeps the law away.

Yes, headlightus interuptus would have been a really bright idea! Switch is the simplest!

Light switch would permit riders to move off into traffic without DRL's....possibly in low light situations. OK in a car....not good going 'stealth' on a scooter in the twilight!
It would be nice to have a starter cut-out, though.....maybe.

Just put the headlight on AC directly from the alternator so it only comes on after the motor has started and the threshold voltage have been reached.  That's the way my 50 cc Aprilia SR 50 ditech works.

The headlight on my SMAX only comes on with the engine running. The running lights come on with the ignition, but the headlight only runs with the engine.

it seems that all records of the Xciting 400 have been erased from the Kymco USA website. Not even the 2018 info is there.

There are still several for sale on cycletrader.
Strange.

I'm guessing either the typical Kymco related website fail, or gearing up for the updated S model (hopeful), or they are dropping the line and washing their hands of it.

I think the website simply is incorrect. They seem to go for weeks with missing information.
