Is a quieter ride possible?
« on: December 23, 2018, 04:00:47 PM »

Hi everyone and wishing you all a Joyous Christmas 🎄

Just purchased our first side by side, a 700i LE Hunter.
And it’s a blast up in Northern idaho🏁

Question. Are there any noise reduction abilities other than ear plugs?
Maybe a quieter exhaust...

There is a company that makes a "stealth muffler", it is an add on additional muffler that makes them more quiet, also reduces performance just a little. I would guess any small muffler with the right diameters of intake and out exhaust would work.  The just become an extension of the original muffler.  The "stealth system" just runs sideways left to right added on behind the factory muffler.  Compared to other machines I have been with I found the Kymco to be quieter than most, not sure just how quiet you need.

Alot of the noise is the engine itself. I put a foam barrier between the box and the seat back, made so we can talk with out screaming...
It can always be climbed.....

A number of companies make sound deadening materials for auto use.  Check with your local car sterio store. Many are self stick. My 450 was fairly quiet as the wife and I have no problem having conversation at slow speeds. We rarely travel at speed so that hasnt been a problem yet.

Can you show a picture of the barrier?  Thanks

I just cut a piece of closed cell foam, (an old egg crate mattress pad is perfect) Used RTV to affix it to the dump bed. Now when I open and close it, the foam reseals.
