BMW's Scooters?
« on: December 26, 2018, 11:58:37 PM »
Has anyone here ridden the BMW 400 or 600cc scooters? Would you say the quality is better than other makes or just the same. I think the 400cc would be an ideal size.

I don't know about the 400cc but the BMW 600 series scooter engines are built by Kymco.

I rode the C650GT for about 2 months in 2013 as a loaner. Enjoyed very much. As with any BMW 2 wheeler, be prepared to pay higher than average maintenance costs. Especially major services.

Kymco has a relationship with BMW, there are several BMW Engineers stationed at Kymco Taiwan.
BMW does all the design, Kymco does the MFG. Some standard kymco parts are used in BMW product but not many.
Product line is scooter power train, Motorcycle parallel twins and singles.
As far as I know, Kymco has no relationship with Suzuki and does not build units for them.
Kymco does build 3 ATV's for Kawasaki(50,90 and 300)  and several for Arctic Cat (most below 500cc and the 500 UTV). Arctic cat, now Textron, is fazing out the kymco relationship.
