Philips LED DRL's
« on: January 28, 2019, 01:45:47 AM »
I think some of you have a set of DRL's mounted on your scooter's front forks.
And some are thinking of adding a set.

I am a big fan of DRL's on autos (dark cars on a gloomy day)  - especially the LED versions. Some years ago the US stopped selling cars with them for a period of time, so I searched out a set for DIY on this car. These are pretty much the same as mounted in Mercedes - a kit made by Philips.

A good quality kit - The wiring instructions were simple to follow - making the installation relatively easy because the Scion had perfectly spaced lower grill slots which accepted the light brackets .(using a bit of Red 3M body panel tape)

The lights light only when the car is on - remain on for several seconds after ignition switched off - and turn off when headlights are turned on.

The LED lamp modules are very, very bright in the daytime and these have a wide angle of light. I can spot the car coming from a very great distance. They are mounted low and are not a bother to oncoming cars. I think these draw about 5 watts and have been in daily use for 6 years.

Both my scooters have LED DRL's - and both are easy to spot at all times of the day. The LIKE200i has amber, the Piaggio has white. Very bright.
