Believe me, Viper knows that! I just hope I never have to get into the guts of our UXV500i 'cause it looks like a giant PITA!

Actually I had no idea. I should really start paying attention to what forum I'm reading... :D

Gave up and took it to a repair shop,it is something internal in the tranny and the entire engine has to be pulled. I will say it again NOT IMPRESSED with only 412 miles on it. Yes I plow my driveway with it but always plow in low, most of the miles are from getting to and back from my hunting stand.

Sorry to hear that, I suppose every mfgr makes a bad one, sorry it had to be yours. I have read about numerous other folks from other mfgrs getting that bad one as well.  We all hope it is the other guy getting the bad one.  While not much comfort for you, this forum does show how few and far between problems have been on these machines.  If it makes you feel any better go check out the Polaris forums, about 1 in 3 or 4 have problems and get no satisfaction from the factory!  When your mechanic finds the issue, if it turns out to be a faulty part, go ahead and contact Kymco, have pictures of the problem...you never know..they might feel quilty...

I hope you took it to a Kymco dealer. If you are expecting warranty, it has to go to a Kymco dealer.

Oh man, that's an absolute buzz kill!  :-[ Sorry to hear it. I'm no mechanic, but for that price, it's hard to imagine you couldn't just get a whole new transmission for less. However, I am not really familiar with the 500. Think I saw something somewhere else on here about that machine being discontinued though, right?

Anyway, I hope you get this sorted out with your wallet in one piece. Good luck!

I would have a serious talk with Kymco, write and call, even take out an ad explaining the problem in a utv publication if they wont give you any help. Bad publicity is every mfgrs nightmare. Let us know Kymcos response.  Is it a Kymco dealer doing the repair?

So far Kymco USA at 864-327-4744 acts like they could care less, they will pass on my imfo, that was 4 hrs ago - zero response so call back again and lady got pretty snooty that she was in a meeting. Does any one have a different phone number to reach out to?

When I talked to them a couple years back, I talked to a fellow in there problem aolving area, they had different folks for elec problems, another for mechanical issues etc. They had no immediate answer but got back to me a couple days later. Only women was the receptionist. My guy talked to engineering to get me answers. You really need a Kymco dealer to help you out.

So reached out to Kymco USA again and the first lady hung up on me,needless to say this did not sit well with me.Called right back and asked for a supervisor which I supposedly got, this lady was a little more understanding,I explained not looking for a free replacement machine just want to know at 412 miles how a major drive component could have such a bad failure. Was not getting a very warm fuzzy feeling until I threatened to go public with my story not only thru social media but would also be reaching out to a bunch of the UTV publications then all of a sudden I would be asigned a case number and someone would contact no later then Mon. 3/18. So I will keep you updated. Oh by the way the $3,000 dollar repair only comes with a 30 day warranty. This whole thing still just makes me sick to my stomach.

Well, glad you finally got them to at least look into it. I'm definitely monitoring this one to see how it turns out...

So, I'm curious. Is this UXV under warranty? When did you buy it? What year is it? where are you located?
If it's in warranty, why are you not going to a dealer and having it repaired?
Reason I ask this, I work at a dealership and have a very good understanding of the inter-workings at Kymco USA.
Thanks

It is a 2015,so no longer under warranty, bought it off Ebay from a dealer in Jasper Indiana, I am in Northeast PA,my local dealer 15 mins. away has a terrible rep. plus they told me that it was out of your realm of repair work, next closet dealer 3hrs. away ripped my neighbor off so bad I wouldn't take a bicycle to them,so I took it to the nearest Artic CAT dealer(which have been using Kymco parts for years)

The problem was already there, that is why the machine was sold on ebay...that is the dealer that should be held accountable. Original owner tried shifting while machine was moving and messed up the gears....covered it up until you got it.

I agree with you airshot. This admission at the beginning would have changed our approach a bunch. That is pretty clear in the owners manual about being stopped(STOPPED/NOT MOVING) before changing gears. About the only thing in that book!
