Yep, never seen a scooter rust from bugs. Waiting for a good rain to rinse off the roads this week.
Stig
aluminum fork lowers, corrodes the sh!t on both my V-strom, and my SV650
only corrosion I have had from winter salt are the steel parts (brakes), chain & sprockets, everything else in plastic or aluminum
And cancer of the wire harness, it just creeps in from connectors, I made that mistake, the first winter I went to the darkside with a winter car tire on back , that and a studded knobby up front, blizzard (as long as plow crews keep snow to 7" or less on the road) freezing rain, no problem. That was a $2k mistake. But ACF50 works well, several seasons since, no issues
Squirt the brakes with Brakleen after every ride, clean and lube the chain.
However, I don't live in a metropolitan area, traffic is nearly non existent when roads are dry and skies are sunny, even less in bad weather. If I lived in a metropolitan area, would I ride in the conditions I ride... probably not, I hate riding there when it's dry and sunny.
Please, no rain, at this point, I prefer snow, I have enough ice under foot, it's rained too many times this winter, then the next day it's -5°f
