2019 XTown oil
« on: March 28, 2019, 03:22:47 PM »
Noticed my XTown has only 1 qt oil capacity....and oil in engine is unfiltered/protected only by screen.   Based on about 175,000 mile experience with 4 Honda Helix---about same oil capacity as Xtown, same unfiltered system......and small engines working very hard, I
CHANGE OIL every 1,000 miles---used oil comes out black....meaning additives are working.

What oil do I use? WalMart house brand 10-40.  Priced right and works, no engine trouble in the last 500,000 miles or more, scooter and motorcycles.

Looking at Kymco shop manual,it shows only using drain plug for oil drain---makes oil change simple.  I think I will look at screen only every 10,000 miles or so.....saves hassle.

Never noticed "Walmart" motor oil in their stores.
I'm keeping my scooter longer than I thought it (or I'd) be around - so paying more for oil these days.
And, both of my scoots being a/c, I change the oil about every 800 miles. Stuff coming out looks well exercised!
I look at the screen just for my comfort level & to get that last bit of old oil out

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I think he means "Super Tech" Tom. That is the generic Walmart has. I use their Super Tech synthetic gear oil. Seems to work well....
