No power to fuel injector

Howdy all-

I've got a non-running 2013 UXV 500i SP that I picked up and am working on getting up and running. Right now, I'm not getting power to the fuel injector. I know there's plenty of battery power, the relay is good, the fuse is good, and the injector is good (I was able to manually energize the injector and get it to spray fuel everywhere).

Any thoughts?

Set the multimeter to read DC voltage (DCV).

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Measure the input voltage on the harness side of the connector. Touch one meter lead to the input hot wire terminal and the other to a ground.

The voltage can only be measured within 3 seconds of the ignition switch being turned on. The battery voltage should show.

If the voltage is not in specification there is a short or open circuit in the wire.

If the voltage is in specification, but the malfunction code doesn’t go away, there is a problem with the ECM connector or the ECM.

Ok, got the injector working. I believe it was working correctly to begin with, but I didn't realize the power on the harness side would come in pulses.

Now, there's no bang. We've got fuel, spark, and air...but no combustion.

Is a compression test the next thing on my list?

What kind of reading should I be getting on a compression test on these motors?

Anything in excess of 130 psi when cranked briskly with starter. That is a general rule number. Do not know if Kymco even specifies. It would probably be wrong if it was in the service manual, anyway!

compression should be 180+ I would check timing on the engine. Ive seen numerous chain tensioners bust and the engine jump time.

To the best of my knowleddge no comp release, even if there was, it would only lower it not make it 0....time to start taking things apart...just a thought here, are you sure tyour comp gage is good?  Put your finger in the hole just to be sure

yes, there is a compression release. pull off valve cover and check valve clearance and timing. hard to believe it shows 0 psi. sounds like a bad gauge. or no piston   ;D
