Having had 2 new Burgman 400's and now new Xtown 300i.
First Burgman 400 traded at 8,000 miles--leaking engine cases (rich at time got new TMAX Yamaha), second Burgman traded at near 50,000 miles but that one at 20,000 miles almost total drive line clutch failure.....but Suzuki did pay for repairs including new belt, too.
Some differences: Price Suzuki nearly twice as much as Kymco
Weight: Burgman much heavier and only a little bigger.
Both have crappy OEM windshields. Suzuki worked only ok with Givi Adjustable shield.....still monkeying with Kymco to get right combo for all day comfort and no buffeting.
Seats: both ok but Burgman has quick adjustable back/hip rest---Kymco no adjust....but look under seat, base molded so extra junk can fit in storage area.
Kymco maybe 5-10 mpg better---performance Burgman maybe a little better=bigger displacement, both ok for long trips. Took Burgman as far as Alaska.
One thing I miss from Burgman MPG gauge and maybe Burgman ride a little better.
Kymco maybe a little easier to work on, both have non-linked brakes--I use rear a lot as balancing aide going real slow.
Probably more Suzuki dealers---both Kymco and Suzuki parts service from dealer=ok.
Used value: both you take a big hit, but at least Kymco much cheaper at start.
I try to get new bike/scooter every year...had over 75 new since 1955, Honda had nothing for me (in US) this year, Burgman too expensive, Yamaha no interest(but many are Kymco anyway)---had 2 Silverwing 600's, they are not as developed as Kymco or Burgman and now long out of production. AT 80 I have to think ofr overall weight of machine and static balance
So if Kymco long term reliable, I am happy.
