My kymco Dink 200i not working after2-3days always.
« on: April 02, 2019, 04:19:51 PM »
Hi.
Kymco dink 200i year 2011... 6000km
I need help, my scooter always run out of battery every 2 or 3 days... Can anyone plz tell me what is the problem and if this is often problem with this kymco?
I have measured when the scooter is running and the voltage going up so i think the generator is in good condition.
I can leave the scooter not going for a week or 2week then scooter start good, but after 3 days or something then not starting (no battery)
I have change battery 2 times but same same...
What do you all think guys?
Is there anything more i can test?
I have read little, can it be voltage regulator reg/rec?
Thx /Henke

You might want to post this under the "Yager GT 200i" topic to get more model specific information as the Dink 200i, the Yager 200i and the Frost 200i are all the same.

Are you sure the underseat light is turning off when you close the seat?

You can check the charging voltage by putting a meter across the battery terminals when it is running - should be about 14 volts.

What do you mean it went from 13.8 to 14.04 in 20 seconds or something?

Where are you located? Are you working through a translator?

your dink has 175.5 CC  could you send a picture of scooter and dash to make sure it is the same scooter. we are having trouble with elecrical some where with our scooters here in canada,  I never had trouble with the battery, some of us think it is the reg.  or the coil spark plug, if you find any thing let us know please

I assume you referred to a Voltage test at the battery while the engine was running.
If so, it means the stator (generator) is still in good condition.

I think the regulator/rectifier could have a faulty diode, which is causing the problem. Faulty diodes in a regulator can cause voltage leaks like this.
You could just do a search on Youtube about how to do a test on a regulator, or maybe just try another regulator.

Life is a journey. Just spend some time, and enjoy the trip.

After riding it a while to charge the battery disconnect one of the the battery posts and let it sit for several days, then connect the battery and see if it starts. If it does then you know the battery is OK and something is "on" all the time that drains the battery. Finding it is the next challenge...

If there is something "on" all the time draining the battery there are two ways to find it: The easiest way is to put a sensitive voltmeter across the leads of some component in the suspected circuit. If a small voltage is seen across the component that means that current is flowing when it shouldn't. Then you have to figure out why. The other way is to put a sensitive ammeter in the suspected circuit by disconnecting one of the leads of a component and inserting the ammeter in series and seeing if any current (amps) is flowing. It may be very little, a few milliamps but that would be enough to kill the battery over time.
