Kymco Yager 200 Roller spec's
« on: April 14, 2019, 08:49:17 PM »
Just brought one home yesterday, will take it for a ride tomorrow if I get ins. and tag. Already wondering, does anyone know size and weight of the oem rollers? Thanks in advance.

Too much speculation about weights of rollers for me....
I weigh mine on the scales at the Post Office.

I have in mind to get a set of rollers but need to know dia, length and weight of OEM. Will probably order a set of Dr. sliders slightly heavier than OEM then experiment with lightening them. I have a gram scale I bought just for the purpose of weighing rollers. If need be I'll pull the rollers out so I can determine exactly what is in there now. Bike only had one owner and he says he never had the belt cover off.

If I remember correctly, they are 17 grams. I think they are 20x15.

Thanks KR. Guess I will take a look at the variator and check the roller sizes. Bike has 4K miles but not a lot of service done so it needs full service anyway.

You were very close KR. Just pulled the variator. Rollers are 20.65 x 15, 17.5 gr. Quite certain they are original. No sign that the belt cover has ever been off. Shop manual says 20.8 dia for new rollers.

Rollers aren't sold by their exact measurement. The rollers in the Yager are sold as 20x15. That's a fairly standard size that Honda, Kymco, PGO and SYM all use. There is a size called 21x15 available, but they are too wide. So if you purchase 20x15 rollers, you are buying the right size for your Yager.

Just received a set of OEM rollers for my Yager, they are 20.8x15. The service manual says 19.8 for a wear limit. The dia. is 20.8, length is 15, so 21x15 rollers probably would work just fine, only .008 thou. larger dia. with the same length. When you say too wide, are you talking about the length, not dia?

You're making the assumption that 21x15 rollers measure 21x15.

Best thing you can do for a Yager. Get one of these:
https://scooterpartsco.com/kymco/kymco-yager-200/malossi-variator-for-kymco-and-sym-scooters?zenid=e345232f79d5076a72cd1c216f5754e9
Comes with 2 sets of rollers 9.5 and 13.5 gr., both are way too light for normal street riding. I ordered 17 gr. which for me were just right. I've tested both stock and 3 different weight Malossi's on my secret dyno test facility. Acceleration numbers for 1/8th mile are:
stock ......13.14 sec. @ 6412 rpm
Malossi W/9.5 gr.....12.20 @ 8740
            W/13.5 gr......12.26 @ 7921
            W/17 gr. .....12.63 @ 7243
The Malossi with 17gr. rollers yields a solid 1/2 second improvement in 1/8th mile times.
Stock rollers are a odd size, 20.8 dia x 15 wide at 17.5 gr.

I should mention the Malossi came with no installation instructions. This same variator also fits the SYM 200cc scooters. It came with a spacer/washer but no hint as to where it goes or if it is to be used at all. After some head scratching I finally figured out that on the Yager, that spacer goes on first, before the variator. Just a heads up on this.

I would like to see how you did the larger pulley. I cut down the face of my variator to force the belt up the full face. The Agility variator is to sloped for the belt width and doesn't use the last 1/2 inch on the 115mm face.

I did not touch the face , I ground the outside edge ,  I put the rpm up to 4000 rpm and had my grinder at full speed and it removed the over size real fast,.  did not touch the finns as they could break,  now waiting for my order to come in to get proper variator and weights in,.

I'm having trouble picturing what you did. What outside edge? On the fan or the weight side of the variator?
