Problem (stalled, wont start because doesnt have spark)
« on: April 23, 2019, 10:02:42 PM »
So basicly i was riding to school i rode abot a mile or two and then suddenly out of nowhere i lost power and the engine shut off. Pushed the scooter home and after a while found out it doesnt have spark and the spark problem isnt with the spark plug i tested that. So any suggestions why would it suddenly lose spark?

Please tell us more about your scooter:
Year, miles, previous issues, recent servicing, aftermarket parts?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Its a 2009 model if im not wrong. It has 2153 miles. No previous issues. No aftermarket parts. And the most recent service was at about 1k miles i did an oil change and i cleaned the carb because the scooter was left untouched for a while but it ran great everything was ok and then the spark issue happened.

Additional context may be helpful to others researching.

Was the deficient ignition coil Ohms tested?

Ok so UPDATE: there is a problem i think that it wasnt only the ignition coil that died or the tester just doesnt work right

Yes, I am not surprised. I started with a 2009 Kymco Agility 50 and it had a run-stop switch on the right handlebar. A bright red one. Same side as the starter button. I can see all kinds of situations where this may be missing. But if it is missing there should be, or could be a substitute start button. So what I am saying is I have a lot of questions to ask just to try to understand what your situation is, the "tester" you are using and how you are using it. So if you can be a little more detailed in your descriptions maybe someone could help you find the problem.

The tester is a multimeter. Its just called a tester where i live and thats why i wrote tester. And there was no reading at all with the old and the new ignition coil. And i was testing it by the video tutorial on youtube.

Jarik,  Since both the old and the new coils tested the same ("no reading at all"), I would suspect the tester itself or maybe incorrect operation of the tester.  I suggest testing another type of electrical component to make sure you understand how to get a reading with a multimeter.  Then let us know what you found.
